Little Badman and the Invasion of the Killer Aunties
Authors: Humza Arshad , Henry White
I started reading this book to my 7yr old and he enjoyed it but I think it was too old for him. It's a funny book about a boy who is desperate to be a DJ Rapper. He keeps getting in trouble in school and one day he takes it too far. So to earn some money and to teach him discipline he has to help with grandpa and join the cricket team. With the help of his grandpa, best mate and Wendy he discovers that's aliens have overtaken the aunties, who seem to be replacing the teachers. It is funny how Humza defeats the Aliens and all is good in the end. It has funny illustrations and I can see the book appealing to older kids.

The Storm Whale
Author: Benji Davies
We loved this book. It's a very simple story but we have read this after the The Storm Whale in Winter. It opened up lots of questions such as why didn't Noi just put the whale back in the ocean? Where's his mum? Why is Noi lonely? What could be a solution to Nois loneliness? My kids liked this book very much.

Horrid Henry's World Records
Author: Francesca Simon Illustrator: Tony Ross
My boy read this book by himself and found all the facts really interesting. It was a little odd having completely fictional statements about Horrid Henry amoungst the factual statements. My boy enjoyed it anyway and enjoyed finding new things out.

Arthur and the Ice Rink
Author: Johanne Mercier
My boy read this book by himself and loved that the book is about a 7yr old boy called Arthur, just like himself! It's about a family trying to set us an ice skating competition but keep getting set backs. A great book for those first independent readers.

Jolly Tall
Author: Jane Hissey Illustrator: Jane Hissey
This is a lovely book. A box arrives in the playroom and all the toys wonder what is in it. The find the giraffe and then do lovely imaginative things with the box and then they try to get the giraffe out. My girl asked lots of questions about this book, such as why don't they push the box over, and why is the giraffe scared of heights. Another lovely book by this author.
