From award-winning illustrator and designer Jake Williams comes a beautiful and fascinating book filled with awe-inspiring information on reptiles - the most remarkable creatures on Earth.

Reptiles are some of the most well-adapted, specialised and resilient creatures on Earth. They have adapted to live in the most extreme environments, and they have many interesting tricks for catching prey and avoiding predators.

All sort of strange and wonderful facts are inside, such as why crocodiles swallow stones, why a group of turtle eggs will hatch at the same time, and which is friend or which is foe of the similarly-looking coral and milk snakes.

You'll learn about reptiles in soaking rainforests, blistering deserts, and more - and you can find out how you can help preserve these amazing habitats from the greatest danger to reptiles ever - climate change.

This book is brilliant. I have learnt so much about lots of reptiles, even ones I haven’t seen before.
I really liked the illustrations. Even though there isn’t any photographs in the book the pictures are really detailed.

This book has beautiful illustrations and really interesting content - great facts and a bit more unusual than other animal type books . We’ve dipped in for the last few bed times and both children have been really interested in choosing a page to read . My 6 year old said that any child who loves books about animals , dinosaurs or insects would love this . Will be buying as Christmas gift for a few children I know .

This is a book that appeals to all ages (grown ups included!).  As an object, the book is made of high quality materials and full of beautiful, simple and engaging illustrations of reptiles of all and every kind.  Full of facts that are presented in easy and accessible language, this is a great book that both entertains and informs.  From explaining what reptiles are, to providing information on a range of them, the book leads on to the habitats that they can be found in and how the human impact on these habitats is endangering reptiles.  This book is sure to inspire a love of reptiles and a concern about protecting their environments to ensure their survival.  I love books such as this that are designed to educate, inspire and engage young children to care and act about protecting their environment.

We loved reading this book together as a family, and will certainly dip in and out of it in the future.  It will also make a great reference book for school projects.   We would also recommend 'The Egg' by Britta Teckentrup, which is similar in range but covers everything you need to know about eggs in a similar manner to how this book covers everything you need to know about reptiles!

We would definitely recommend this book, and it would make a great present for any child who loves reptiles.

This book is amazing in every way. Not only is it hardback with superior paper quality for the pages and wonderful illustrations. The book offers wonderful facts about many different reptiles, some which as an adult I’d never heard before.
The book definitely appeals to the whole family and is easy to dip in and out of.
We can not recommend this book highly enough.

My extremely curious nearly 5 year old loves this book, the pictures are clear and inviting and explain many of the points in the writing brilliantly. It is a really good quality book and covers all sorts of reptiles from iguanas to sea turtles. It give lots of info about different species and gives loads of details about really interesting and unusual reptiles like thorny devils and basilisk lizards. We both learned a lot!

We loved this book. From the quality hardback cover, to the subtle coloured illustrations, and the vast array of facts and the way in which the information was presented. Our four year old loved the illustrations, six year old liked to go through the book picking out creatures he knew, and our eight year old loved learning about new facts as well as consolidating her current knowledge. A fabulous and classically presented book for the family to share.

Fantastically illustrated book, the pictures are so inviting that my 6 year old couldn't put the book down and neither could his almost 4 year old brother.
The text is clear and concise, it's in small sections that give just the right amount of information to keep my sons engaged. Miles was able to recall facts from the book to tell his dad and younger brothers...he's overjoyed with it and I know it'll be a firm favourite for a long while. It really is a remarkable book!

This is a really impressive looking book - it's solid and absolutely chock-a-block full of illustrations and facts.  Covering the whole spectrum of reptiles from turtles through to crocodiles you could spend hours over this.
The illustrations are super (though I would prefer a few photos as well if I'm honest and it's not too heavy on the dialogue.  Lots of short, snappy (and fascinating) snippets of information.  As well as the creatures themselves it also covers their habitats and the things that endanger them.
A great, child friendly, reference book (which my snake maniac loves already)
