First of all this a beautiful book which is a pleasure to pick up - hardback, high quality paper and absolutely fantastic illustrations which add to and take over the storytelling at different points, and endpapers with lovely maps. The story is a mix of the modern and Norse myths with a endearing main character, Arthur, who saves his village after completing a series of tasks, meeting heroes and monsters along the way. Enough to keep an older reader interested reading themselves (8 year old here) and also a lovely book to read aloud to younger children (6 year old here) or a mixed audience. I will definitely be looking for further titles in this series - this would make a lovely present too.

When I saw the cover I thought I was going to like this book! I really liked the maps because it helped to make sense of the story. I liked the pictures and there wasn't too much writing which is great because I'm dyslexic.  It didn't take me long to finish it and I would like to read it again.

A thrilling adventure story about an unlikely hero, you will be gripped. This book is beautiful on the eye, illustrations, maps, comic book layout and hints of gold on the cover. How could you not pick it up and read instantly. I read it before sharing with my class on an up coming topic, they are going to love it. Especially as one of the characters is already familiar to them. There is lots of work we will be able to do using this book.

My son: I really like the pictures in this book, especially the ones of the monsters. I thought Arthur was a bit like Hiccup (How to train your Dragon). People did not expect him to be a hero.

Mum: Both the book itself, which is published on quality, thick paper, and the story, which relies on Viking mythical figures, are excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining story which should appeal to a wide age range.

A lovely book and story suitable for several age groups. Cameron has enjoyed reading this book himself, he found it easy to read, loved the pictures and enjoyed the storyline. We also read it to his 5 year old sister, and she also enjoyed this book, especially the illustrations. A good one for children with an interest in Super Heroes.

If I could I would give 6 stars!! The story is brilliant, illustrations amazing and the main character Arthur is such a lovely boy. If you like magic, adventures and scary animals you will love it! This is one of the most engaging and entertaining books that I've read - it had hooked me from the beginning to the end. I loved it. It has a brilliant text which is well illustrated. The colourful graphics supplied by Jo Todd-Stanton are stunning, and the maps at the beginning and at the end will enhance this Arthurian experience for younger readers.
My favourite graphic was a huge library within the god's hall. So many books!!!
I also love the smell of this book (I know it's strange but when you open it, the pages smell like freshly painted walls )
I love everything about Arthur and the Golden Rope, especially that readers who enjoy this book could check out other books in the series.

My brother won this book as a toppsta giveaway and he let me borrow it to review. I really liked all of the pictures and I liked that there was a lot of speech bubbles. It was really good and quite short which I liked. I would recommend it to children who are dyslexic.
