Another very good educational book from Usborne. Beautiful illustrations to show and explain all possible types of families. They don't go into deep details of how each one of them works, but enough to start various conversations. They also explain the family tree, show how families can change with new/leaving members, how families have different celebrations and even how some of them talk more than one language. This was very nice for us, since it's our case and my son was quite happy to see this being explained as a normal thing.

A brilliant book! Stuff full of lovely pictures of all kinds of families and loads of informations about them. It talks about different types of families, where people live, what they do and eat, and how they feel. I think this book is great for my daughter as she starts school soon and will be meeting more and more friends with different families.

A vibrant, bright, educational book. As a family with two mummies, we struggle to find any books which have similar family set ups to ours, and as our son is starting school soon we wanted to be able to explain the differences in families to him in an easy way. This book has been brilliant to show him all the different kinds of families in the world and how his family is included also. It’s a beautifully illustrated book and each page has so much to keep little ones engaged.

Before even opening the book I knew my daughter and I would love this from just looking at the cover. It is such a lovely vibrant book that has so much information about all different types of families. My little girl was so engaged while we read this charming book together, she now asks for it almost every night.

This is a brilliant and inclusive book all about families. It goes through the different types of family there are, changes that you can experience in a family, the people in your family and things that families do, for example eating different foods and speaking different languages. We really liked that it gave a brief description of what different terms you can use for different families, they are really clear and don't offer too much information to overwhelm young children. We loved that different aspects of our own family were represented (only child, divorced grandparents, family members who are gay), this is really important! There is a bit about making a family tree that acknowledges this can be complicated (definitely the case in our family!). A great book for discussing families, especially if your family are a bit different and you want to see that in a book.

As a family, we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this book together. There are some nice positive comments about what families are and some useful illustrations which encourage acceptance and understanding of difference. It’s not too complicated for young kids but gives enough information for them to understand.

This is a delightful book which really demonstrates that families do come in all shapes and sizes.  My son struggled a bit because he is an only child and would ask why he did not have brothers and sisters like his school friends.  This book with wonderful illustrations to keep the child engaged and good explanations was simply perfect to try and explain things.  Highly recommended.

This book is beautifully illustrated and contains a LOT of information.

I initially expected this book to read more like a story but it is definitely more of a factual book in the way it is set out. The story covers lots of elements about families, covering emotions, family trees, different types of families and the language used to describe families.

It is good for helping older children to understand families, I read this to both my 2 year old and my 7 year old and found the age range was more beneficial to maybe 5-7 year olds as my daughter lost interest fairly quickly.

The book is a great educational book and would be great for school early years as a reference point.
