I had this book as a child and couldn't wait to share it with my daughter. It was one of my favourites. Reading it again we loved the rhyming story and the fab characters. The discription Officer Pugh is great and all the different villains. The pictures in this book are brilliant to look at, lots to notice and enjoy.
My daughter really enjoyed this one, and I loved reading it again.

A big fan of ‘goodies & baddies’ stories, Hugo loved having this read to him when he was younger, and now loves reading it for himself.  The rhyming text is well-written and humorous and the illustrations are really detailed - he loves poring over the pictures and often spots something new. There are also lots of opportunities for different voices to be used for each of the characters -  Hugo does a great Grandma Swag!

We love this as much as Each Peach Pear Plum - and like that, know all the words.
Had a copy when I was little and read the same copy to our children.
A classic 70/80s children's book - refreshingly cheeky for modern times.
Oh... the villainous Grandma Swag ;-)

Aaron really enjoyed having this book read to him although the writing was too small and long for Aaron to read himself. The story flows and the illustrations are interesting to look at. Aaron liked all of the police but not the robbers.

My little boy loves this story, he asked lots of questions about the robbers and wanted to know what was going to happen!  It was quite long but the play in words made it seem quite short, great book x

I thought my daughter would like this as she really enjoys the other books by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, but she wasn't as interested as I thought she would have been.  She's at the stage where she categorises things into "boys or girls things" , and she said this was a boy book ! I'm sure she will enjoy it once this phase is over as it has a great story, lots of illustrations to talk about and it's funny too. So we will give it another go soon.
