Glimmering with power and hope, two acclaimed picture book makers come together to tell the story of what happens when a boy is brave enough to stand up for what he feels is right.

From the Kate-Greenaway shortlisted illustrator of Oliver and Frances Dean Who Loved to Dance and Dance, and highly acclaimed author, Hiawyn Oram, comes a poignant eco-conscious story, and a vivid portrayal of a child's imaginative play. Greedy Greenbackboy's got an idea for a game. He wants Snowboy to help him cut down all the trees in the forest and catch all the fish in the deep and ever-moving ocean. But Snowboy recognizes the importance of life in the natural world around him and, in this evocatively told tale, has to trust his instinct to protect, rather than destroy...

Gosh this really was an evocative children's book. It was beautiful to look at and gorgeously portrays a childs imagination.

The messages of caring for the planet, that money isn't everything and standing up for what you believe in, are really strong as an adult reading the book. I'm not sure my 6 year old understood those messages as clearly but it's a beautiful way to start introducing children to such concepts.

This book is about a boy and his friend who decides that Ka-ching is what they need and they chop all the trees down and fish all the fish so they can get loads of it. It's not until one of the boys decides it's foolish as Ka-ching can't give you fresh air or feed you, so he walks away and makes his own decisions. It's a clever story with a strong message. The illustrations are lovely.
