This book definitely brought a smile to our faces.  Lola goes to the library in search of her favourite book and is distressed not to be able to find it, only then to see a girl walking off with it!  Charlie goes to great length to try to persuade Lola to consider a different book but she resists and resists.  Eventually she concedes and the new book becomes her favourite book ever.  A lesson in keeping an open mind and you never know what you might find!  A winner even if you children are not Charlie and Lola fans.

We love Charlie and Lola books they are fun, bright illustrations and exciting. This one is about Lola's favourite book beetles, bugs and butterflies and how it's not possible to read any other books. Dad takes them to the libray and someone has taken out the book.
Takes Charlie a while but he does find a different book that becomes her new best book.

My daughter loves them on tv and has read a few books in the series. She recognises the book from its cover and enjoys time out on her own to with this book it really captures her imagination.

This is a good book and has a great message about staying open minded. Lola goes to the library where she wants to take out her favourite book but she sees another little girl with it. Charlie uses all his powers of negotiation and persuasion to try to get Lola to take out another book and low and behold this becomes her new favourite book. A funny story told in the normal Charlie and Lola way.

This book was brilliant for explaining to my boy why he had to return his books to the library and why they might not be there when he comes back another time.  It was a fun way to explain it and he really understood afterwards.

My children love Charlie and Lola on the television and love the books also. I love how they make a simple story funny (Lola reminds me of my daughter with makes me laugh out loud) The illustrations are busy but great.

with girls who love books as much as our two, this is a firm favourite - a book loving Lola obsessed with just one book in the whole library. But oh no its not there-  what might happen?

Leo loves the books in this series and this was no exception. He really enjoys the characters and the funny relationship between Charlie and Lola. In this story he could really relate to Lola wanting to borrow her favorite book, only to find that someone else wanted to read it too. He particularly liked when Lola is describing the silly beetle from the book, and laughing at 'all his funny little legs'. It's a lovely, funny story and great for helping children to understand how libraries work and all of the great books you can find there.

Lola's adventures are always a good fun for kids to listen about. My daughters love all the books about Lola in spite of the fact that they've never watched them on telly:) This one describes Lola's day in library and her "attachment" to one of the books. She doesn't really want to read anything else and she's disappointed that her favourite book was borrowed by someone else. After a while she understood that the are lots of other fascinating titles around.
Highly recommended - lovely illustrations, funny text:)

My three year old twin girls are big Charlie and Lola fans. The story teaches children to have an open mind and try new, different things. In this case trying out a different library book when Lola's favourite has been borrowed by someone else. Anyone with stubborn children can relate to this book and it is a fun read.
