Iggy Peck and Rosie Revere have earned their places among the most beloved children's characters and have inspired countless kids and adults to follow their passions. Determined Ada Twist, with her boundless curiosity for science and love of the question "Why?," is destined to join these two favourites. Like her classmates Iggy and Rosie, Ada has always been hopelessly curious. Why are there pointy things stuck to a rose? Why are there hairs growing inside your nose? She embarks on fact-finding missions and conducts scientific experiments, all in the name of discovery. When her house fills with a horrific, toe-curling smell, Ada knows it's up to her to find the source. But, this time, her experiments lead to trouble.

A great story about a little girl being curious about science. It talks about the steps you take to do a science experiment. Love that it's a girl being the scientist. The illustrations are fantastic. Great book to inspire girls .

As a family we love ,love, love this series of books that inspire creative and curious children. Ada Twist Scientist is about a girl who loves asking questions and always wants to find out how things work. Her parents find this hard at first but learn to embrace and support their daughter. Great pictures and engaging and fast paced rhyming story, my son loves this book.
As a bonus, the main character is female (great role model for girls) and is not white. Brilliant to find a book that shows diversity.

A fabulous book to introduce children to some of the things that make a great scientist, particularly to help girls feel this is a subject that is just as much for girls and boys. It reminds children (and parents) of the importance of asking why? How? What? When? Etc. I didn't like it quite as much as Rosie Revere Engineer, and I was slightly concerned that Ada drawing all over the walls in her house might give my daughter ideas(!), but it was a great book I would strongly recommend.

My daughter was given this book for her third birthday. It is probably aimed at older children but there's a lot in there for little ones too. As a mother, I absolutely love the fact that it's a female scientist and I also like the fact that it introduces the idea that the parents find her interest in science difficult at first (not because of her gender, but because of the mess!). We have been reading it all the way through sometimes and dipping into it at other times. My little girl is particularly taken by the fact there are child's diagrams on the cover/inside cover and she really wants to do these too. It's a truly inspiring book that I think we will read for many years to come and we are already planning to buy the other books in the series - both for our daughter and for friends.

As a mum, I love this book because it encourages scientific curiosity and promotes diversity (a non-white, female scientist? go, Ada!) My kids love it because of the fast, flowing rhyme about the search for the source of the horrible whiff. The quirky illustrations are charming, as is the fact that Ada's parents are a bit perplexed by their daughter's insatiable curiosity (which adds a nice sense of realism) but the overall message is one which promotes working together, as Ada's family support their young scientist in her endless questioning. A really positive book.
