This book is about a girl called Clara who is sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle during the first world war. I am really interested in history and the world wars will be a topic at school next year and i felt this book told me a little of what it must have been like for children at that time. I found the book sad in places but i couldn't put it down. The friendship Clara shares with Will is really good.

My mum and i read this together and she loved it just as much as i did! Lucy wakes up to find all the grown ups of Whiffington, the town she lives in, are all gone. While the other children have a great time making mess, eating whatever they want and staying up late, Lucy and her friend Norman try to get them back! I loved reading all about the creatures, the creakers in the Woleb. It is a really good book and i loved the pictures too.
