When a quiet-loving cat takes an unexpected tour of the neighbourhood, he's in for some rude surprises - until he discovers the purrfect solution.

Homer is a very quiet cat. He lives in a very quiet house with a very quiet lady. But one day, while the lady is away, Homer hears a very loud crash, and out of the window he goes! Poor Homer just wants to find a spot where he can curl up undisturbed, but his hometown is a surprisingly hectic place. Will Homer ever manage to find a bit of calm in all the noise? And will he ever find his quiet lady? Reeve Lindbergh's cheerful, rhyming text pairs with Anne Wilsdorf's charming illustrations for a story-lover's ode to adventures both large and small.

This is a lovely book about a cat called Homer. He loves peace and quiet so when he unexpectedly leaves his home, his attempts to find a quiet spot in and around his town aren't always succesful. The book has lovely rhyming text and the illustrations are colourful. It has a very happy ending.

Homer is a cat that is used to some peace and quiet. After hearing some loud clattering sounds outside, he decides to jump through the window to investigate whatever is going on, but instead he ends up hurling himself towards the bin! As he can't get back inside (his owner is out), he goes in search of somewhere peaceful so that he can rest. His journey to find such a calm place is trickier than he thought...
We chose this story because we liked the colourful cover illustration, many of the children like cats (having their own at home) and I liked the sound of a story that featured a library. However, the library doesn't really play a part in the tale - it is featured at the end - and the cat is quite a dull character for the children... we all liked the brightly coloured illustrations, but feel that the concept was lacking somehow, (the class weren't overly enthused by the story after reading it) and that the story ended in a way that wrapped up too easily. It was nice to look at a story with illustrations that are quite a bit older than the little ones, but sadly it's not likely that we'll return to it.
