Cass has always wanted to audition as an acrobat for the famous Circus Boat that sails the warm seas of the Longest World. But when her chance is snatched away, she comes up with a new plan. Soon she has secured a job on the Palace Boat, following the circus around the islands. Yet Cass has been invited on the boat for a very different reason - and it's not long before she is embroiled with thieves, sword fighters and a mysterious group of women called The Company of Eight...

A beautifully written adventure story for fans of THE GIRL OF INK AND STARS from Harriet Whitehorn, award-winning author of the VIOLET series.

I was drawn to this book because I loved The Greatest Showman so much and because I loved The Girl of Ink and Stars which is similar. I also love singing, dancing and drama so I love how Cass never gives up on her dream. It also made me think of Swallons and Amazons because of the adventurous mix of character. It helps that Cass is a really engaging heroine and she's a bit like me in lots of ways - always ready to get stuck into something and give it a try. I'm also honest and loyal like Cass so I liked that too. I am hoping to buy the book for my best friend because I think she would love it.

A book full of adventure with a smart, likable and headstrong lead character, Cass, who has always dreamed of joining the circus. A missed audition leads her into swashbuckling adventures and a voyage across the sea with the Company of Eight, a legendary set of female sword-fighters. A brilliant fantasy adventure.

I loved this book. It is about a girl whose name is Cassandra Malvino. Cassandra's dream is to be an acrobat. But when Mrs Potts takes her to Madame Carpera, she misses her audition as the circus boat has already set sail. Can Cassandra ever get on the ship again?
I hope this book hopes girls chase their dreams.

The book is about a girl called Cass, who has always wanted to be an acrobat, but when she misses her audition, she decides to go to the Island of Women. On the way there, she gets caught up in thievery, pirates and slaves. Soon, she is helping the company of eight (a group of sword fighting women) trying to unmask the pirates.

I really liked this book. I especially liked the way Cass travels very far but she still ends up where she wants to be.

A compelling read! We totally adored this adventure story. It had danger, excitement and lessons about resiliance and growing up! It follows the journey of an acrobat called Cass. There is magic, sword fighters and pirates. My son thought it was very exciting. He loved guessing what was going to happen next! A really super story!

This book was too old for my daughter who is below the target age range at only 5.5 years. It was a little old for her to understand so I finished it on my own and saving it for her to read herself in a few years. I personally enjoyed the book and think she will love it when she's a bit older and find it easy to connect with the main character. An inspiring book for young girls I thought.

A success of an adventure. This book was jam packed with adventure, it had so much going on that it held our attention throughout. Our favourite character was Cass, the main character in the book as she was brave. A beautiful cover and each chapter begins with a map/part of a globe which is really fitting with the story as they are on a journey on a circus boat.

This is a great book with circus, and pirates, and adventures! The main characters and hero' of the book are all female which makes it a great adventure book for girls. It really captures the imagination of the reader.
my daughter started to read it, but it took a while for the story to become anything, and she gave up. I read it all, and maybe as an adult and not the aimed for age group, I found it a little slow and disjointed.

This book has an absolutely tremendous setting - a string of islands, a circus boat, streets you skate through, a floating palace and an entire island of women! It's really splendid. The plot is a well-woven, epic adventure filled with pirates, secret swordswomen, lords and ladies, thieves and scholars. For me it didn't quite hit the spot as I think the viewpoint is set just a little bit too far back for me to really connect with Cass, the main character - it felt a little bit detached. However, I can see it will be very popular with the right age group as it's such a wonderful setting!
