This book is a brilliant history book on the Silk Roads that led from Asia to Europe. It gives intriguing explanations of each era telling you what happened and explains how the Silk Roads helped connect the world. I really enjoyed this book as it tells you lots about the history of Asia which most people don’t know much about. Also, it has lots of beautiful illustrations that help show you what’s going on in an interesting art style.  I will definitely read this book again.

I love this book! I love history but i was really excited to recieve this book because my dad had read the grown up version of this book on the train to work and would tell me stuff he'd read so it was so good to read this edition together. It's a look at history from early civilisation to very modern history and it's really interesting to see how allegiances between the usual super powers change throughout history. I loved looking at the different maps. My favourite illustration was of the charge of the light brigade. My mum read about Emmeline Pankhurst with me which was great too. I would recommend this book. It's really good.

I loved this marvellous book and have already read it cover to cover! Reading the book is itself like walking down a historical road. I liked this book particularly as I love history and geography both, however, children who don’t like these subjects would also love the book because of the way it is written. The illustrations are brilliant and beautiful. The book is unique.

This is a beautiful large hardback book that takes a geographical perspective on history, focussing on the Silk Roads and their influence on the spread of trade, religion and odeas. I loved the introduction which explains why the author took this approach, based on his own frustrations as a child in the way that history was (and still is) taught in schools (in a disjointed manner that does not connect different periods of history). Books such as this are great, offering a way to supplement history teaching outside of school.

As a family, I have been reading chapters each night to my children. The information is quite detailed, and I am not sure how much information my children are taking in. But they enjoy listening to me read, and I am keeping it limited to one chapter each night (along side some lighter reading). Hopefully this book will inspire a love of learning history, and inspire them to seek out books themselves in addition to the lessons that they learn at school.

This book is educational and entertaining. It takes you through a journey of history, right from the beginning. The illustrations are amazing and have so much detail and colour.
My favourite part of the book was learning about Attila the Hun and his gang. They were bloodthirsty and ruthless.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to learn.

A beautifully illustrated book about the history of the world. The illustrations and the simplicity of the rewriting make learning about history very interesting. The book goes into religion, war, rulers and is broken up into manageable chapters. Well worth the read.
