Book pages Reading Champion: Letters from Grandpa: Independent Reading Green 5
Reading Champion: Letters from Grandpa: Independent Reading Green 5
I read it to Matthew aged 6 & to Sophiajane aged 2
We chose this as a library book that my son could read to me and we were delighted as not only do we have a Grandpa who writes letters but the main character is called Josh and we have one of those too!

The book is clearly laid out with illustrations that suit the story perfectly. The story flows well and makes sense to a beginner reader. It is also such a lovely feel good story with a happy family who are kind to each other.

Book pages Peppa Pig: Peppa and Her Golden Boots
Peppa Pig: Peppa and Her Golden Boots
I read it to Matthew aged 6 & to Sophiajane aged 2
We are reading a LOT of Peppa Pig at the moment and although the story veers in many different directions, from Grandad Dogs boat to space, at least there is a story to be read. My children enjoyed this as there were plenty of characters involved in trying to recover Peppa’s boots from Mrs Duck and the obligatory muddy puddles were jumped in at the end of the story.

Lovely bright illustrations and clear text which make it easy to read aloud.  The best bit is definitely the sparkly front cover.

Book pages Usborne First Experiences Going To The Hospital
Usborne First Experiences Going To The Hospital
I read it (an adult) , to Josh aged 10 & to Matthew aged 6
We have had 2 copies of this book. I bought it when my eldest was going to hospital for an operation so that we had some pictures to look at and discuss. When my other son was due to go for an operation I remembered I had passed our copy onto a friend who needed hospital chat.

The book is clear and written in a way that children who are starting to read can join in too. The pictures are clear and busy with plenty to talk about on each page.

This book definitely made both my boys feel at ease about going into hospital.
