Ten days, ten tasks - can Holly complete her very own Dadventure?

Holly's dad is an explorer, having amazing adventures all over the world, while Holly is stuck at home with her mum, her baby brother and the dog. Now Dad's on a new expedition and he'll miss her tenth birthday. She's not happy - until she finds out that he's planned a special treasure hunt, just for her. She has ten days to complete ten tasks - some silly, some tricky and some downright terrifying.

Maybe life at home isn't quite so boring after all.

The first story in the 'Dadventure' series, a perfect family story or read-alone for fans of David Baddiel and THE 13-STOREY TREEHOUSE.

Dadventure  was  a fun-packed , short novel which was wild and non-stop from start to finish creating that tiny bundle of awesomeness that younger readers LOVE! . When Holly is challenged to complete a " Dadventure " ,a series of 10 tasks that she can try at home , will she be able to conquer her fears and do them all?

For 6+ , I thoroughly enjoyed this little adventure that had plenty of twists and turns and a lovely ending.

I really enjoyed every single moment reading this book. I extremely loved it.
My fravroite bit was when Holly was visiting Harold's Peak. It is the most exciting part of the story.

This book is full of excitement, surprises & adventures. Most of the characters were enthusiastic- I especially liked the dog. It was a bit like a Jeremy Strong book so if you like those try this. It was quite hard to read because it had lots of made-up words but I still enjoyed it.

Holly's dad is an explorer, and poor Holly is stuck at home with her mum, her baby brother and the dog. Holly also isnt happy as she finds out her dad is on a new expedition will miss her 10th birthday. Her dad has planned a special treasure hunt, just for her, and she has ten days to complete ten tasks, which are scary and silly. I really enjoyed reading it, and it was very exciting in parts. It was easy to read on my own, and I really liked Holly's character. There is a 2nd book to this which I would really like to read.

This was a great book! In the story Holly’s dad is going to miss her birthday because he is away for work. he sets her ten challenges, one for every day after her birthday and some are easy and some very dangerous. While doing the challenges she faces her fear of heights and sprains her ankle. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

I loved this story especially as the main person had the same name as me. The story never had a dull moment, Holly went on so many different adventures.
It was really easy to read too with great pictures.

I simply adore this book! The characters are memorable and credible and the plot was fascinating and fast paced. The writing is beautiful and capable of filling the reader with a mixture of excitment and happiness.
It's great that the author shows that you don't need to travel to have adventures I like the fact that Holly gets closer with her mum and 'scary neighbour through her adventures.

It's one of the most beautiful books I've read lately and I highly encourage you all to do the same. It was a real pleasure

This was an amazing book. It was funny in some parts and exciting in others.

It's about a girl called Holly. At school she gets teased by Emily Fellows and her gang. Her Dad is an explorer. Holly wishes that she could go on adventures with her dad so he gives her ten tasks to complete. Some of the tasks are a bit silly but some of them are downright terrifying! And as if she hasn't got enough on her hands, Holly has the talent show coming up and can't keep up with her tricks! Should she drop out of the talent show or should she stay and fight to win?!

My 5 and 6 year old think this book is "sick", I'm pretty sure that means it's awesome!
It's a full on, fast paced fun story about a girl and her dad who sets her 10 tasks over ten days, some of the tasks are pretty daring and had my sons on the edge of their seats.
The boys struggled to read this book by themselves but really enjoyed it being read to them so hopefully they will read it again themselves since their reading confidence has grown a bit.
All in all a good fun read.

Holly's dad is an explorer. He has amazing adventures around the world and then writes about them for his job. Holly wants to be an explorer just like her dad when she grows up and when dad plans a treasure hunt for her birthday she gets her chance. Dad always gives Holly a fun and silly hand drawn birthday card every year but on her 10th birthday (whilst her dad is away) he sends her something special - her very own 'Dadventure'. Holly has ten tasks to complete and they are amazing, scary and fun. One such task is to climb to the top of Lofty the tree but Holly is extremely afraid of heights. Will she manage to complete them all? At one point along the way there is even buried treasure to find. The book is fantastically fun and has some wonderful black and white illustrations throughout. We loved following Holly on her Dadventure and wish we could go on one too.

My 6 year old son and I read this together and we both really enjoyed it. Holly is am slightly introverted girl who's just turned 10 and her Dad sets her a challenge to solve 10 clues in 10 days. Some are simple, like a hug for Mum whilst others are a bit more challenging. We loved the way that her Dad's challenges forced Holly to do things she otherwise wouldn't (though I'm hoping that Lucas doesn't get any ideas about climbing big trees!) and forced her to come out of herself. Lucas loved all of the illustrations and thought Oates the dog was really funny. We enjoyed trying to figure out what some of the clues meant ourselves too! There were lots of good life lessons in there too - never making assumptions about people, kindness brings rewards etc etc - but presented in a fun way so it never felt "preachy".

The writing style was fun and simple and whilst Holly's Dad seems glamorous (being a travel writer who trots around the globe) the parent characters were actually very relatable (gung ho Dad and over protective Mum). I loved that the Mum was equally interesting though, Holly learns she was an archaeologist as part of her task, and that Mum and Dad were planning a role swap in a couple of years. Definitely one that kids and parents could both enjoy together and we'll certainly look out for the next books in the series

After receiving the 'Spectacular Holly Day' in a recent toppsta giveaway, Alex wanted to read the other two books in the series.
Although we read the 3rd instalment first it didn't really matter.

The book is about Holly a 9 year old girl and her family. Her Mum, Dad and baby brother Ernest and their dog Oates. Holly's Dad travels and writes about his adventures on his blog, Holly really looks up to her Dad and longs to join him on an adventure.

With her 10th Birthday approaching she is feeling less excited than usual as her Dad is away working and she will miss him being around and presenting her with one of his hand made cards. On her Birthday, however her Dad has sent her a card from his travels and something to keep her from missing him whilst he is away, this is to give Holly 10 adventures to complete in the 10 days until he returns home.

Some silly, some nerve-wracking and some adventurous ones but all seemed to get a giggle from my son as we read through each chapter.

Alex really enjoys this story and he likes the humour within the book which I suppose he can relate to as young child in school and all the frustrations that come with being a school child.
There are very few illustrations in the book but enough when needed to make sure there is clear understanding of what is taking place in that chapter.

Another great read from Dave Lowe and as a parent I found it an enjoyable read to. The language is not overly complicated so for a confident reader they could quite easily read this book alone.
