Don't panic, but you're in danger.

At least, you would be, if Jack Beechwhistle wasn't around to protect the world from alien attacks, zombie sweet-shop owners, and exploding conkers - with a bit of help from his trusty sidekicks, Colin and Harry (as long as it's not past Colin and Harry's bedtime). Their missions are daring, dangerous, and deadly. They even have top-secret headquarters (the shed by the rhubarb patch).

But now Jack's about to face his most challenging challenge yet. The Attack of the Giant Slugs.

And they're on their way to Jack's school - right in the middle of maths!

I chose this from the library as I liked the front cover. The main character Jack protects the world from aliens, but he does it undercover. The giant slugs is his biggest mission yet. It was an easy read, with a good size font. I thought Jack was really coll, being an undercover agent, and he has done some great missions. Jack was my favourite character, but I also liked his best friends, Colin and Harry. I liked the black and white illustrations and the ending of the story was good. When I next go to the library I am going to see if there are any other books by this author.

Kes Gray is an absolute favourite in our house. My 5 year old son loves his 'Daisy' books as well as all the 'Oi -' books and 'Quick Quack Quentin', so we hoover up any books we spot that he's written. Jack is a classmate of Daisy, with a big personality and a huge imagination! He's a World Secret Agent, together with his best friends, and engages on important missions, like this one - to protect the school from giant slugs! Jack is a winning character, with a challenging family life, who escapes from neglect at home by re-imagining his life. The stories are winningly told and very funny, the serious themes are merely hinted at to pull at the adults' heart-strings, and the illustrations bring each mission to life beautifully. If you have an aversion to slugs, though, you may want to avoid this one!

I liked this book because it was hilarious and Jack Beechwhistle has a huge imagination. His training sessions are extremely funny because they are not very realistic. I would highly recommended this book to children aged 7+ because it has good print and nice pictures.
