The Adventures Of Miss Petitfour
Author: Anne Michaels
This is a collection of whimsical short stories about Miss Petitfour. I still love reading aloud to the children and it's often difficult to find a book they both might enjoy, being so very different as they are. Similarly am not wanting the story to be too long or too short. These stories are perfect. One of the great things about the stories is the use of language not often used or explained. The author does both, she will use a word she thinks the reader may not have heard before, its in italics and in a different colour font and explains it. As a parent looking to encourage vocabulary, it's a brilliant read.

Mr Stink
Author: David Walliams Illustrator: Quentin Blake
My two still enjoy hearing a story read to them and this is a good story to read together. Mr Stink is a homeless person who is befriended by Chloe. Through meeting him, she becomes a lot more confident and happier than she has been. A great way to address sterotypes about lots of people and a happy ending too.

Look Inside a Hospital
Author: Katie Daynes Illustrator: Stefano Tognetti
My daughter wants to be a midwife when she grows up so she was totally delighted with this book. It's a good size, not too large, but still crammed full of lots of fantastic information about hospitals. Divided into seven sections: arriving, outpatients, emergency, staying overnight, scans and tests, operations and mothers and babies, there are lots of flaps to interact with. Lots of great questions were asked. A really good factual book that makes good use of space and uses all the right terminology. Excellent in fact!
