The Spook's Apprentice: Book 1
Author: Joseph Delaney
A great novel for pre-teens (maybe Year 6) onwards.
We borrowed this from the local library and after my son read it, I read it too. I'm now on the fifth book in the Spooks series and I'm personally loving it!  :D

Not for very young or sensitive readers - the content is supernatural, scary and at times quite gory, but if that doesn't put you off, the books are really well written and totally compelling. Set in a time of witches and boggarts, ghosts and monsters, all ultimately tends to end well and I can't wait to see how Joseph Delany ties the series up eventually.

Great for hardier kids 10+ onwards who don't mind a little scare and like the supernatural (and their Parents  :)).

Super Happy Magic Forest: Slug of Doom
Author: Matty Long
Absolutely hilarious!

We've read this book together several times and the boys have read it plenty of times by themselves - there's so much to look at and I've caught them browsing the pages several times.

An epic tale of adventure, evil (slug) villains and... frolicking, this is such a fun book. Wonderfully written and with excellent illustrations that mean there's lots to spot and chuckle at. It's almost a modern fairytale with a dash of 'early reader graphic novel'.

A great quality read-together book - brilliant! We loved this book.

The Mice of the Round Table 1: A Tail of Camelot
Author: Julie Leung
A wonderful, magical story.
Really enjoyed reading it - loved the fact that the main characters are animals.
You will get hooked on this and once you've started reading it, you won't be able to put it down until the last page.
I'm going to read it again.

Boyband of the Apocalypse
Author: Tom Nicoll Illustrator: David O'Connell
Really good. I read this in just a couple of sittings as I really wanted to find out what happened to the characters.

A bit different and sometimes unexpected.

Great illustrations.
