    Jacqueline Wilson Biography

Jacqueline Wilson is a much loved and hugely successful English children’s book author. She was born in Bath in 1945 but grew up in Kingston Upon Thames, not far from London.

Her writing often deals with difficult but essential topics such as divorce, bullying and mental illness and her fans say they really feel she understands the issues that effect them as children.

Jacqueline’s commitment to children and children’s literacy has been recognized on several levels. She was awarded an OBE for services to literacy in 2002, in 2005 she was appointed the fourth Children’s Laureate and in 2008 she became Dame Jacqueline Wilson.

If you’re a big Jacqueline Wilson fan you might like to know there is a Jacqueline Wilson magazine aimed at anyone aged 7-12 who loves reading, writing and creating.

    Jacqueline Wilson Facts

Jacqueline didn’t take A-Level English until she was 40 but she (unsurprisingly) got a grade A.

She is rumoured to have about 15,000 books in her house!

Although Jacqueline has won many awards for her books, her most famous series is probably her Tracy Beaker series. The first book in the series, The Story of Tracy Beaker was written in 1991, more than 25 years ago!
