Clover is a motherly character as she looks after her siblings and reminded me a lot of Lily in Lily Alone. I enjoyed the story and the Scarlett fever mention as I love history and this particular time period as well as it encouraging youngsters into history more too! The story was endearing and a constant thrill as we see Clover forge herself a better life than suffering abuse from her step mum as she had been.

This is the best Jacqueline Wilson book ever and I enjoyed it very much. The main character in this book is Clover Moon. Clover has a blood sister Megs and her five step-siblings. Her beloved Mr dolly was probably my favourite man character and clover my favourite female character. This book is so sad in some places as clover has lost the ones she loved most. She decides to run away to a place that was mentioned to her by a nice man called Mr rivers and has to face saying goodbye to her beloved Mr dolly the doll maker. When. Clover finally makes it and settles in she finds out someone knows she has run away and she has to run all over again. This book is great and I can't wait to see what happens next in Rose Rivers!!!

Clover Moon is a fabulous book that is set in Victorian times about a poor girl named Clover. She was destined to live a tiring life, getting beaten up for little mistakes by her cruel stepmother every day. She lived with her drunk father, one blood-related sister and a couple of step-siblings who she loved. Clover loved her sister the most but when she died, clover found life too hard and ran away in search of a home for destitute girls. When she finally found it she thought she was now safe - but was she?
An outstanding book that you might like to read and beautiful illustrations to go with it.
I absolutely loved this book, one of my favourite books ever from my favourite author ever. I would rate it 100 per cent and recommend it to anyone aged between 9-15 years old.

Written by 10 year old.......This book was AMAZING!!!!!! I really really really enjoyed it! It is a spell-binding novel that i couldn't put down, obviously written by my favourite author Jacquiline Wilson. You really feel for Clover and really hate some other characters. There was a few surprising parts and something sad happens. I don't want to spoil the story for the readers but i really do recommend it, especially for Hetty Feather fans so go and buy it now or you will be missing out on something BIG!!!!

Clover Moon lives in the back-alley slums of Victorian England, where life is far from easy. Her step-mother, Mildred, is as wicked as step-mothers come, and treats Clover like a skivvy and nursemaid to her own children, and that's when she's not at her worst. Despite this, Clover's warmth, kindness and vivid imagination provide comfort and fun for her brothers and sisters, and the other children in her alley. When the person Clover loves most in the world is suddenly gone, she has to find the courage to escape, if she wants a better life for herself. Will she be as lucky as the plant she was named after?

Jacqueline Wilson's stunning description transports you into Clover's world, in a poignant tale of a brave little girl trying to find her place in a time where, for many life was cruel. A truly beautiful, heartbreaking story, pitched perfectly for children, and best read with a tissue or two, for a character so well crafted, she will live with you long after you have finished her story.

The information at the end of the book about children's lives in Victorian times, a history of how child protection laws were developed and information for children suffering abuse today was a lovely, well thought out addition.

Great for fans of Hetty Feather, Katherine Woodfine, historical fiction. Class teachers, this is the perfect class read alongside the Victorian topic.

Jaqueline Wilson has done it again.  Bellboo has been absolutly absorbed in the story (I have too).  Based in Victorian times not only has she been drawn into the story Bell is desperate to know more about Victorian Britain.
We purchased a copy with an exclusive cover so Bell is also happy her version is different from her friends.  Her review will follow.

Clover Moon is full of heart breaks, sadness, pity, poverty and hope. This is a depiction of the Victorian era where children at the time were beaten up and tortured and no one would do anything about it. Clover like many others was born in to a family of extreme poverty. Clover had lost her mother after she gave birth to Megs, Clover's sister who was name after their mother Margret. Clover loved Megs from the bottom of her heart and was the light of her life. Their Father had remarried to evil and horrible mildred who gave to five children of her own and will beat clover black and blue. Alas the scarlet fever attacks and poor megs is taken away clover cannot bear to live  in that house anymore and runs away to sarah smiths home for destitute girls. I really loved this book it was quite the read. Iam 12 years old

This book is fantastic!  I read it first as I like to make sure books are appropriate for my 8 year old.  I would say this book is more suited to the older child (around 10), I just think my daughter wouldn't "get" a lot of the story.  I however couldn't put it down!
I've never read Jacqueline Wilson but I would certainly read her again.
I loved the character of clover and how she didn't judge people based on appearance.  Her friendship with Mr Dolly was lovely to see.  I hated the character of her stepmother, nasty woman.  I think her father was definitely weak when it came to his new wife although I do think he just wanted an easy life.

Little Clover loves her siblings especially her full sister Megs, only when she contracts Scarlett Fever, Clover runs away after feeling unloved as her wicked stepmother hits her and doesn't care for her at all.

She does have kind friend, Mr. Dolly, the toy doll maker only her stepmother band her from seeing him as he's hunchbacked but Clover doesn't listen to her step mum at all and before she runs away he gives her some money and food.

As she runs towards Miss Sarah Smiths, you may remember her from the Hetty Feather books, she meets a dancer, Thelma who helps her find the home for destitute girls she was told about by Mr Rivera a man she met when he bought a very expensive doll from her Mr. Dolly.

She gets introduced to Hetty when Sarah later takes her out for a lovely slap up afternoon tea though later Mildred intercepts Clover's letter to Mr Dolly and finds out where she has gone to. However kind illustrator Mr rivers takes her on as a nursey maid and there she meets Rose, of the upcoming new novel Rose Rivers out soon!

Clover Moon is another book by Jaqueline Wilson based in the Victorian times.  It was difficult to get into to begin with but then there is a really early twist and it gets really interesting and rally good.  I liked this book and I liked that Hetty Feather appears in it too.
I only have it 4 out of 5 because it is part of a series and even though I read it all I don't know what he opens to Clover as a nursery maid.

I like this book. When Hetty Feather made a appearance I quite like that part. The ending was quite a cliff hanger. I hope there's a sequel I would like to see how Clover gets on with Mr Rivers.
