Dylan Malone, aka Beaky, has a habit for telling porkies - every time he opens his mouth, out pops a whopper... But then his long-suffering sister shoves him into the truth-telling machine at Madame Shirley's Marvellous Emporium of Peculiarities. Now Beaky can't tell a lie - not even a teeny-weeny one - and a truth-telling Beaky is even worse...

I liked this book because it's really really funny. It's about a boy who is the world's greatest liar. He put in a truth telling machine which he thinks isn't going to work but it does.

After visiting a truth telling machine something mysterious happens to Beaky. Beaky is my favourite character as he is really silly and his sister is fun, she hits him a lot!
My favourite part of the book is when Beaky starts telling others big secrets.
The story is funny and makes you laugh, the pictures are okay. In looking forward to reading the next book.

This book was so hilarious I found myself laughing out loud! I just could not put it down as I wanted to read it all. Beaky just couldn't help himself, he reminded me of a boy at my school. I had to hide this book away from my brother until I had finished it and now he is reading it and he also is finding it very amusing.

Beaky is the world's greatest lair. He lies about everything but one day he goes into a shop and steps inside a truth machine and can't lie! But will anybody believe him?  This book is really funny.  Once I started I couldn't stop reading it.  You might think it's always good to tell the truth but sometimes you might tell a lie to protect other people's feelings.  Beaky gets himself into a few tricky situations and embarrasses himself a lot.  I really liked Beaky's character.  He's not really a nice person but he is hilarious and I absolutely loved this book.  The drawings are also really interesting and eye-catching.  If you want a book that you can't put down and you like a good laugh, then read this!

Dylan Malone, otherwise known as Beaky, tells lies... all the time! That is, until his sister Jodie, shoves him into a Truth-Telling machine and suddenly, Beaky can lie no more! Now you'd think that would make his life better... but things are about to get very messy and very funny!

World's Greatest Liar is hilarious! I'm talking laugh out loud, giggle snort, hilarious! The characters are brilliant,
We have of course the master of fibs Beaky
His bossy sister Jodie, ( even Destructo, the family's disobedient and destructive Great Dane does as he's told when Jodie speaks! )
Dad, who composes jingles for averts on the radio and has been known to sing about butt cream.
Theo, who's as bright as a button... well a very dim button, okay he can be incredibly and hilariously slow sometimes.
Mum whose smile is most definitely slipping ( I feel her pain )
and then in walk full-on Aunt Jas, "cool" Uncle Steve, creepy Sophie and plain horrible Max.
Prepare yourself to laugh so much your orange juice spurts out of your nose... and if you don't like that sort of thing, then... what's wrong with you?!

This book is brilliant, I hid it from my children so I could read it, and I was right to do so because as soon as my daughter saw the cover, she grabbed it and ran into her room with a "unless the house is on fire, don't shout me, I'm reading!"

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beaky Malone took us a while to read (sorry Toppsta!) We started it a few times and then had to regress back to the beginning as we left to much time in between picking it up to read.
The book starts out telling the story of Beaky Malone and what a great 'Liar' he is. This made for interesting conversation from a 6 year old who didn't fully understand what lying was. After an explanation on what 'telling a porky pie' is or what 'liar liar pants on fire' means we entered into the rest of the book.
Beaky enters a truth telling machine and comes out, unable to tell lies anymore! he story is full of twists and turns as you read how Beaky tries to get people to understand whats going on and to try and get back his ability to tell lies. Scarlett found the book hilarious and laughed out loud often. It was a little above her ability to read herself and we are currently looking at more complicated words and Scarlett's ability to understand them. This book was great and pushed her to ask me what certain words meant.
The book was fluent and easy to read and kept me and Scarlett interested through out. We would love to read another Beaky book if one came out!

This is a fun book that I would recommend for children age 8+. This book is about a boy who's nickname is Beaky because of his nose. He gets put in a truth telling machine by his sister Jodie, and now he can't tell a lie!

I love books like Captain Underpants which this book looked like so I was excited to read it.
I really liked the cover of the book it was colourful and looked funny.
The book is really fun, I loved the whole story and it made me laugh lots of times.  Beaky is a really funny character and I really enjoyed it when he couldn't tell any more lies.  It was easy to read and I read it in a couple of days by myself.
I would definitely read other books in this series.

Read by Mum to Josh aged 8.  We loved this book, the characters in it were funny.  Josh particularly liked the fact that Beaky likes to smell his own farts!! This book is written in a similar style to Wimpy Kid. A must read for young boys.
