The encouraging and simple activities and exercises tackle the feelings of being bullied, teased and overwhelmed; children will enjoy using their creativity to combat negative feelings and work out how to cope with these emotions through writing, colouring, doodling and drawing.

The quirky illustrations will keep the reader entertained and focused as they work through the book, or simply dip into the pages for ten minutes of calm colouring.

Part of Mindful Kids a thoughtful range of activity books for children from Studio Press that includes No Worries, Hello Happy and Be Brave.

Written by Dr. Sharie Coombes, Child & Family Psychotherapist with an introduction and notes for grown-ups. I loved this book. As a teacher, it includes lots of lovely activities that I could use to empower my classes and lots of good discussion points for circle time to discourage bullying. As a mother, I read this with my son who is 6, and is sadly starting to experience some of the emotional bullying discussed in the book. The activities allowed me to discuss his feelings and why certain behaviours were wrong. It also made me realise that his self-esteem is actually quite low at the moment, so it was good to draw those feelings out so that we can work on them together in a positive way. The illustrations are nice and bold and we loved the way the author has personified the limbic system by turning it into a dog called Bob so that children can relate to it better.

This book is amazing and read with my son who is five and a half and even though still will keep reading with him is going to come into play alot more the older he gets.

my son is of a very soft caring nature and is always the one that gets picked on even now at a young age being somebody only has to say or look at him crossly and he will cry and really struggles with controlling and reading others emotions due to additional needs and is something has a parent we worry about and the bulling being he would be classed has a easy target to some in years to come, but this book is fantastic with drawing pages and activities to encourage to write down and draw etc and to just encourage to be more open and speak about and even tell us if this is ever a issue in the future etc

this book is so great and would consider more similar in the future and would highly recommend a good read for any child to understand bullies and then talk about the effects of bulling has they get older etc should we feel we need more to help the understanding of bulling in the future this book is a great opener, so thankyou toppsta for giving me a extra tool in my toolbox

This is a wonderful little book with masses of opportunity to have an open conversation with your child. My son has done some of the activities by himself and we’ve done others together. It’s definitely given him a chance to look for the positives in himself and it’s been a boost to his self esteem.

I normally let my daughter error her own reviews but they tend to be shots and this book deserves a longer review! It's a fantastic resource, not only for children who are being bullied but for all children. The book explains about the fight or flight response in child-friendly terms and includes lots of activities to help children develop confidence and inner strength. My daughter has already done some of the activities and they have made her think not only about her positives, but also ways in which she herself may not have been as kind as she could be. It's a fantastic self-help book for children navigating the world of friendships and rivalries.

I really really like this book.
Sometimes I get nervous and anxious and the book explained all about fight or flight and helped me to understand why sometimes I feel so anxious.
There’s so many activities to chose from which help you with feelings or being thankful.
The activities are all explained really well. I took it to school to show my teacher and my mom said we can keep it at school as one of my friends got bullied at another school and now she’s at my school we want her to never feel sad.
This book made me feel happy. Thank you

I wanted this book because I wanted to help my friend who is being bullied. I don't understand why he is being bullied as he is a very nice boy, but I think it is something about him being an 'easy' target. He is very small and I think people pick on him because he is smaller than them. I wanted to take this book into school and share it with my friend and the rest of the class to see if we could find some activities that would help. Until I read this book I did not really know what my friend was going through, like the physical feelings he might be feeling, not just being scared but may be feeling sick or shaky. I just thought he would be frightened or upset but this book has shown me that it is much more complicated than that. May be if I think how awful he is feeling this, the bullies will start to think about what they are doing. I hope so.
I liked the Alright Duck activity and I would like to ask my teacher to do this with us. It is all about practising feeling positive and thinking of your troubles like water just splashing away. I think many of these activities will help all of us discuss what bullying is and what it means to be on the receiving end.

This book is lovely! Although I haven’t used it with children who are being bullied, I have used some of the pages with a mindfulness group and for individual children in our ‘quiet corner’. They get to use their creativity to overcome strong emotions that they often can’t understand or control. A great addition to any classroom.

This book is bright, colourful and exciting. It encourages children to empower themselves and raise their self esteem. We felt the title restricted it slightly as it could be used for so much more than just sufferers of bullying.
