Rabbits Don't Lay Eggs!
Author: Paula Metcalf Illustrator: Cally Johnson-Isaacs
Rabbits don't lay eggs so what other job can they do on the farm. The animals set off to find out, with very funny results.

This was an unexpectedly hilarious book which my children absolutely love  It involves some poo humour which never fails to be funny apparently.  I have to say even us parents found this book quite amusing

Bright  bold  and very entertaining  We love it.

Maisy Goes to Nursery
Author: Lucy Cousins
This is a great book to prepare a child for nursery  It's bright and bold and fun to look at. The text is small and simple, perfect for little ones. It goes through a day at nursery, all the things they get up to with her friends and the fun that's too be had.

I think this book really helps little ones understand what to expect when they head off to nursery for the first time

Hubble Bubble, Granny Trouble
Author: Tracey Corderoy Illustrator: Joe Berger
There's something kind of different about granny.... Bat's, gloopy soup and things that disappear...

This book is a lovely portrayal of the idea that everyone is different and you should accept them exactly as they are.... Even if they have cats, dogs and batty bat's as pets!

Easy to read rhyming text and fun illustrations with lots to look at. My girl loved this at 4 and still loves it at 6, we've great it many times.

We're Going on an Elf Chase
Author: Martha Mumford Illustrator: Laura Hughes
A fun festive take on the 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' book. Follow the bunnies through the snow, looking for elves wherever they go, with a fast and furious race back home for a lovely big surprise.

This really engaged our playgroup, with the children eager to lift a flap each  There was plenty of flaps for everyone to have a go with lots to find and encouraged counting along the way. It also kept my 2 and 6 year old entertained as a bedtime Christmas story book  with both of them keen to find the flaps in each page. I loved the beautiful illustrations throughout.

Just to note the flaps are stuck onto the top of the pages rather than incorporated so might not stand up to small fingers long if unsupervised.

Max the Brave
Author: Ed Vere
What a fabulous and funny adventure book for Little ones. Max the cat is not a sweet cat he is fearless and brave and sets out on an adventure to find Mouse. What he finds is mouse and monster but not as you expect them and he certainly ends up with a big surprise.

This is a very funny little story that even I enjoyed reading and my toddler enjoyed following  Each page is a beautiful bold bright colour with simple illustrations that really captivated my child. The text is short and simple but enough to make a great story to read.

I think we'll search out more books by this author!
