Loved the styling of this book, the size, colours, the flaps.

It's just so modern, the kids love the feel of it and the expanse of the pages.

It's good and factual, it makes sense to a child who has visited an airport and flown.  What a wonderful way to make explanations come to life.

Utterly recommended.

This book exceeded our expectations so much! I thought my 6 year old would enjoy learning about the airport but I hadn't realised how much there was to this book, he absolutely loves it and has been reading it and playing with it daily. It's a lift the flap book, which is great as my son loves this type of book but they are usually aimed at very young children. The book takes you through every aspect of going to an airport (my son loves trains so he particularly enjoyed seeing the trains and underground bringing people to the airport), and the journey you take through it and when flying. There are loads of interesting little facts about airports around the world which we have found fascinating, and it has inspired us to learn more about these, especially the airport with the road going through the runway! Great book for children who love learning about transport. We've been really impressed with the Lonely Planet children's non-fiction books and this is no exception.

This is a really detailed and informative book, with lovely illustrations.
My 8 year old read it to herself and found it really interesting. My 4 year old keeps coming back to it,desperate to learn more.
I think most children would find something to enjoy in this but it’s absolutely brilliant for families who live near an airport, travel by air or have family working in the industry. It would also be a nice way to prepare a child for a first flight.
There’s a surprising level of detail, but the way the pages are laid out means it isn’t overwhelming.
It’s very nicely done and I expect we’ll be sharing this one as a family for a long time.

I love this book! There are so many interesting facts, and information about airports I think I will need to read it at least three more times to try and remember them.
I took this book with me when I visited my great granda who is 87 and we went through this book together - he loves airports, and even he didn't know some of the facts in here!
I've also sat with my mum & dad and read some bits with them. They didn't know about the lights on a plane & what the different colours mean.
My teacher didn't believe me about a Kangaroo in Melbourne airport - she had to google to check it was true!
I have asked Santa for other lonely planet kids books this year as I love this one so much!

Wow! What an amazing book! My son and I learnt so much about airports and planes and the way they both operate. Every double page folded out to make it a 4-page-spread, so allow lots of space to read it. The illustrations really brought the facts to life, and the interactive questions where you have to find things on the pages really helped to hold his attention. The flaps really appealed to my son, as usually they are only included in books for younger children which is a shame, but a word of warning on these, they are very delicate and it isn't always obvious on the first read of the book which way they fold down, so one of our flaps was damaged. The book appeals to any person who is interested in planes and airports, and it has lots of lovely anecdotes about unusual events that have occurred at them. It has made me as an adult want to visit some of the airports in the book, so I'd better get saving those pennies! We would thoroughly recommend this book.

This book is absolutely brilliant. It clearly explains all of the goings of the airport from where the luggage goes to air traffic control. The unfits in way that children can understand.
The book has pull out pages to enlarge pictures and flaps to lift to add to the enjoyment.
The book literally answers every possible question a child might have about the airport. My son feels very special knowing all of this inside information.

I was going on holiday and id never been on an aeroplane before and i was a bit scared.

This book showed me that there was nothing to be scared off to the refuelling of the planes to where my luggage goes.

Its made me feel i might quite like to be a pilot one day and take people on their holidays.

So watch this space

We loved this book in our house! I have give it 5 stars as all the children enjoyed reading about the different stages from boarding to how how baggage is collected from a conveyer belt. Dawoud particularly liked the page showing inside the areoplane as the pages opened up. The pages had information on them, some which was aimed for older children but the kids who could read enjoyed it.
Overall, this book was a great read.

This book is definitely one which gets full marks for layout, illustration, interactive and how informative it was. The kids were so surprised to learn about how different elements of the airport work. In fact, I found myself learning from it too! The book was filled with flaps which uncover different secrets about the airport. I was pleasantly delighted to find how two pages unfolded to reveal a huge picture of an aeroplane and the different elements of it. I cannot fault this book!!! 10/10
