What a cracking book (eggs-cuse the pun!!) - the perfect book to bridge from picture books.  There's plenty of fun illustrations between the pages and a simple fun story.  What's great though is how likeable the twins are - there's no attempt to make them outrageously wacky - and how they are so interested in science and nature.
The story really revolves around testing how strong eggs are using a variety of experiments (all of which are perfectly detailed so you can try them for yourselves at home).
A perfect mix of fun, easy to read, storytelling and education (not that the kids will know that!)

Hilarious story of twins who decide to build a time machine. It contains scientific facts and experiments that you can do at home, preferably with an adult as it gets very messy. Can't wait for the next installment.

I thought this book was really funny, it was a really good story. The characters in it, Al and Lottie, like experimenting like I do. There were some ideas for experiments too which were interesting.

A great fun book, especially if you like science and experiments. A funny story about twins making a time machine. But with lots of experiments on the way. We liked that you got to follow easy instructions of what you need and how to do each experiment. My little boy really enjoyed this book and wants to try some of the experiments out too.

My son adores this book due to the great experiments and science in it.  Great twist in as much as you get easy to follow instructions so you too can try the experiments at home.  Easy to follow story about twins making a time machine. Fabulous text and pictures for children who are reading at home.  Highly recommended, we will look to buy the other books in the series.

Both my girls 6&3 liked this book a lot the eldest found it easy to read herself and loved the sketches, I’ve been asked a number of times since reading it if we can do some of the experiments! We will be trying some in the next school holidays.

This is a great book with a very funny story. Al is trying to build a time machine and with the help of his twin sister Lottie and their dog Einstein they conduct various different experiments to ensure they build the strongest, sturdiest time machine possible. The experiments often end up with a lot of mess and a lot of broken eggs. We really enjoyed this book and especially liked the summaries given for all the experiments. I think we will definitely try one or two of them ourselves but probably conduct them outside to avoid too much mess in our house.

This book is a great way to inspire children to think about science in a fun way. The book contains some fun sketchy style illustrations and the book is broken up with some fun science experiments that can be easily replicated at home with an adults help. The story itself follows twins Al and Lottie and the results of their experiments.

I really liked this book as I love doing science at school and this book has lots of fun experiments in it that I can try doing at home with my mum. I really like the characters of Al, Lottie (his twin sister) and Einstein their dog. This book was really fun and enjoyable and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Such a clever book.  It's not just an adventure story, it's got experiments and science information galore too! My son really enjoyed it as it was very different to any other science books or adventure books he had read before, it was a mix of fact and adventure in one. Wonderful experiments to try at home too. Would definitely pick up the others in this series.

This wasn't really what I was expecting from the title- it's a fun story with a few experiments in it rather than a science book. The experiments are simple but messy so approach with caution if you have the kind of child who has to try things out!! We enjoyed the story and the casual, fun layout of the book.

Really liked the format of this book and the experiments are great. Storyline is age appropriate.

However, it is disappointing that it has a broken family in it which could provoke unwanted anxiety in younger readers.
