    Jane Clarke Biography
Jane Clarke is the award-winning author of over 80 books for young children, including popular young fiction series such as Dr. Kitty Cat (OUP) and Pet Hotel (Scholastic USA), and picture books such as Gilbert the Great, Neon Leon and the Sky Private Eye series for Five Quills.

Jane was born on 17 December 1954 and spent her childhood in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Jane has lived in numerous countries including Mexico, the US and the Netherlands but in 2005 she returned to England and lives in Kent. Aside from writing children's books, Jane spends a lot of time inspiring children to read and write and she regularly visits schools throughout the UK and Europe.

    Jane Clarke Facts
When Jane was at school she wanted to be an acrobat or explorer, she didn't enjoy writing as a child. Her past jobs have included being an archeologist, a history teacher and a library assistant but Jane says being a full-time children's writer is the best job!
