My sister and I really liked this book, but it isn't what we had expected at all. The title made us think that this would be like a kid's travel guide mixed with walking routes/underground/boat routes and things to spot as you went along. This isn't what it is, but it is still brilliant.

We have travelled through London through the pages of the book - discovering interesting facts linked to places around the capital. Each of the trails has a theme, for example, there is a treasure hunt trail, which looks at money and gold and treasure spots, which includes Hatton Garden, London Silver Vaults, Mansion House Treasures, the Bank of England and the Tower of London. There are 19 different trails and some of these are more obviously linked, such as a Royal trail and others have less obvious, but intriguing links, such as sounds of London, explored in London out Loud, which not surprisingly includes Big Ben, but less obviously perhaps The Valley Football Stadium! There are famous private homes in the spotlight in the Hey Nosey Parker trail, which includes London's narrowest house in Shepherd's Bush as well as the more famous 221b Baker Street amongst others.

This is a great book to dip in and out of if you can manage to put it down, or if you are like me, you won't be able to put it down and you will read it cover to cover - in fact I read a good deal of it out loud to my Mum, with an excited "Mummy, listen to this! before each new fact.

We are going to visit some of the places in this book, but I not all of them and not in the order in the book I don't think, unless they are near each other, but London is definitely an exciting place to visit after reading this book!

I have a few Lonely Planet information books which I love, so I was looking forward to reading this. I love information books, and it has lots of fun facts. I recently went to London so it was fun, when reading it, to see which places or things we had seen or visited, and when I next go to London I will be taking this book with me. You can read the book in order, or use the contents page to skip to bits you would find more interesting. I learnt lots of interesting facts. I liked the secrets revealed section the best. I liked that it was a small book, a great size for my hands. Some information books I have are really big. You can get other guide books in the series for New York and Paris as well.

I like this book a lot.  We go to London a lot but there is so much to do and so many places to explore.  London City Trails gives us lots of ideas on what we should see and do next.
I like that it has lots of snippets information on lots of places and me and my mum can go on Google if we want to find out more.  I want to go to the Clink prison next.

This was a fantastic book. I loved the pictures and the interesting facts. Mum said the book was lovely and glossy. I think she enjoyed it more than I did. It shows you 19 trails around London. Unfortunately we had to cancel our London break because I broke my arm a couple of days before we were supposed to go and I had to have an operation. Mum has promised to take me there next school holiday. I know I want to go on the "Tunnel Under London" trail and the "scream streets" trail. It's a great book to read if you're going exploring in London. I've learnt a lot of things about London and there's a lot of places I want to go to which I didn't know about before. I want to go and see the door to nowhere in Bayswater and I also want to try and find the blue and yellow boys and girls in Aldgate.

This book arrived today and I have read it cover to cover - I know it's for Bellboo, but she breaks up for school for summer in a week so I'm saving it for her to test, read and review then.
We live close to London but are stuck in the rut of doing the same things.  Not any longer, this book has given me so many ideas and I know she will feel the same when she gets her hands on it.
Full of snippets of information, history, sketches and photographs this book is brill.  I never knew there was a shop just for Monster supplies so close, so now I know exactly where to go to buy brain jam and jars of snot.  Yup we are going to check it out!
I'm not sure if we will do the trails or just pick what we like and add it to our day - makes visiting the market to get cheese or veggies a lot more fun for my 9 year old.
Love love love this book, although unless I'm going to Paris or New York I'm not sure I will be as passionate about the others in the series.
Thanks for the fantastic giveaway Toppsta and Lonely Planet Kids.

It was great to receive this book through the post and being a winner of it. I like this book because it gives you lot's of gruesome and interesting history facts. In the scream street section it tells you that in the 1800's London's burial grounds were overcrowded and bodies were being stashed on top of each other. Also the stench could be terrible and diseases spread from these sickening sights. There was also another interesting fact about chewing gum - around 6 tons gets dropped in London's West End every year and its costs over £10 million a year to clean the chewing gum off all of London's pavements. Mom and Dad like it too as it will give us something different to look at the next time we travel to London for a day trip together.

I was so impressed with this book. It is packed full of interesting facts, and I found myself poring over it as well as my daughter! It's really well researched and there is a great variety of interesting places in London to visit. It is well structured - and I also loved the mix of photos and illustrations. This is definitely a book we will refer to a lot over the coming years as we explore the capital!
