Going on your very first aeroplane can be a unsettling experience for children. I found this book to be very helpful for my son.
The night before and days prior to our holiday we read the book together and once we arrived at the airport we were able to point items out from the book which my son instantly recognised. I would recommend to anyone who has young children and are about to experience aeroplanes for the first time.

We are a Topsy and Tim mad family! The books are great for helping to explain children about real life experiences. This one tells you about the family going on holiday, the plane ride, how sucking a sweet can help with ear pressure on the plane, the moving platforms you travel on. Great for preparing children for a flight or just another great Topsy and Tim story! The illustrations are lovely and show a nice amount of detail too.

The Topsy and Tim series of books are a great resource to use when children are about to experience something new.
This particular book is all about Topsy and Tim preparing to leave for their holiday,
completing their aeroplane journey and finally arriving at their holiday destination. My daughter is 2 and she enjoyed this book as she could relate to certain things after she had completed a long distance flight. It was a book I read prior to going on the aeroplane as previously when she had travelled she was a lot younger. There is a page in the book where the air hostess gives sweets to the children to avoid any ear pain and this was something that I discussed with my daughter referring to the book when we were on the aeroplane. However, I did feel that the book didn't quite meet my expectations. I feel that the beginning of the book doesn't flow and it would have been nice if the 'checking in' was mentioned with words such as 'passport' included. The journey the children compete on the aeroplane however, I do feel is realistic and fun elements, like receiving your tray of food are written about well.
