Topsy and Tim find fun and adventure in the real world. Their engaging stories are reassuring for young children having first experiences of their own. In Topsy and Tim: The New Baby , the twins' friend Tony has a new baby brother called Jack. At first Tony is a bit jealous of the new baby but he soon learns how to be a helpful big brother. A trusted and well-loved pair who can help guide parents and children through 'first experiences', Topsy and Tim books have been beautifully updated with contemporary artwork. Topsy & Tim remain instantly recognisable to parents while in a fresh style that will appeal to a new generation of fans. Re-launching in April 2009 with the bestselling titles Learning to Swim, The New Baby, Start School, Go on an Aeroplane, Go Green and Have a Birthday Party these wonderful books deserve a place on the bookshelves of the next generation.

Topsy and Tim’s adventures are always very close to real life. This one came in handy when a new baby was born in our family. The book explains how the twins’ friend is about to have a new baby. When the baby is born how the little boy Toby is a responsible brother. It explains how to do a baby bath. My children als loved the little guessing game at the end of each story.

This is a great book for getting children prepared for the arrival of a new baby. In this story, Topsy and Tim's friend Toby, is getting ready for his siblings arrival. It shows the journey from Toby's expectant mummy to him becoming a big brother. There is a lovely page in the story when Toby announces to his class that his baby brother has arrived and that he will be visiting him in the hospital after school. So real. The story also shows Toby having mixed emotions about baby but this is done in a very subtle way which could be explored further through questioning and observations of the illustrations. Toby proves to be a good helper and helps mummy bath the baby. It also includes baby being breastfed in the story which I thought was great as I don't see that much in stories. In parts of the story I do think it is a tad text heavy however, on the whole I think this is a great book.
