We're big graphic novel advocates here at Toppsta and for many good reasons...
Firstly, we know kids actually read them! It's no secret our very own children have collected entire graphic novel series and cherish them dearly to this day.
Secondly, they work for readers of all abilities and – contrary to common belief – often visual readers are the most voracious of the bunch. They let the story absorb them completely, vignette after vignette, clearly imagining different character voices and visualising each scene.
Thirdly, graphic novels are an accessible medium. Often these books will approach delicate themes and challenging ideas, which is a great way to help develop empathy and understanding for others.
So, with no further ado, here are our favourite graphic novels for readers aged 7 and 8 and you might want to check out our recommended graphic novels for 9 and 10 year olds too.
