LEGO Women of NASA Space Heroes
Author: DK
This book as been a real eye opener for my 7 year old son. The hook for him was the Lego aspect but the facts, Drama and sheer excitement of space made this a real favourite of his.
We also paralleled the book with our trip to the Kennedy space centre too which sparked so many questions.
Plus his building of Lego spaceships has improved no end.

Fantastic Mr Fox
Author: Roald Dahl Illustrator: Quentin Blake
This is a lovely book and both my boys love listening to me read it, with the eldest reading the odd page as his confidence allows. Both love the illustrations and enjoy mimicking some of the speech in the book.
My on,y concern wold be it can be a little bleak for a bedtime read.

The Squirrels Who Squabbled
Author: Rachel Bright Illustrator: Jim Field
The first thing that hits me about this book is how wonderful the illustrations are. Having two boys that bicker and fight this book is a great bedtime read that promotes kindness and sharing.
Heartily recommend this to anyone.

The Highway Rat
Author: Julia Donaldson Illustrator: Axel Scheffler
Our youngest is currently going through a phase of wanting to collect and hear all the Julia Donaldson books. Carter really enjoys the whole story and the eventual karma the rat receives.
This is another great book to promote understanding after the story has finished and both our boys find new things in it after each read.

The Stink Before Christmas
Authors: Sam Nixon , Mark Rhodes Illustrator: Tom Knight
This book was not an instant hit with our boys, however after a few read throughs the boys were really laughing at all the references to farting.
From the readers viewpoint I found the rhythm of the writing a little awkward but it didn’t effect the boys enjoyment at all.
