The Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan is a magical fantasy adventure series for middle-grade readers, with beautiful illustrations by Ben Mantle.

When they were little, Arthur and Rose loved to play in the Land of Roar - an imaginary world that they found by climbing through the fold-out bed in their grandad's attic. Now they are eleven, they are too old for make-believe but, when Grandad vanishes into the bed as they are helping him clean out the attic, it looks like Roar might just be real after all. We recommend the Land of Roar series for readers 8+ and fans of Nevermoor, The Wizards of Once, How to Train Your Dragon and Jumanji. 

The series is now complete with the Land of Roar 3 - The Battle for Roar - having come out in 2021. You need to read the trilogy in order, starting with book one.
