I liked the book because it was funny and a bit sad. The best was when Auntie Flip had a number 2- I found this really funny and still do now  after finishing the book. The sad bit was when Gilbert went in prison because everyone said it was his fault. I would recommend this book to anyone even teachers.

My daughter wanted this book as soon as she knew Walliums had released a new book (HUGE FAN!!)

She ended up having to wait until Christmas and was overjoyed when she saw it! So much so she disappeared for a couple of days to her room and emerged only once she had completed it!

She said she loved the book her favourite part was 'when Franks Auntie swapped clothes with Dad so that Dad got to have a day out with Frank - it was so funny'

She Highly recommends the book and puts it in her top 3 Walliums! (She finds this hard to choose at times as she's loved so many!!)

I got this book for christmas and could not stop reading it.  This is my favourite David Walliams book so far.  I thought it was really funny. My favourite characters are Frank and Gilbert.  I really enjoyed the bits about them racing the cars and then how they beat the bad guys so that Dad can get released from prison.

What I liked about this book is that David Walliams is still really funny in serious moments in the book at that's what I love about the book. The characters are really funny. The book is about a boys dad going to prison and the boy has to find out was has happened to his dad? How did he end up in prison? There are a few illustrations and I liked looking at them because there really clear and I can understand what's going on just looking at the pictures! This book made me feel sorry for the boy because I wouldn't like my dad to go to prison.

Bad Dad was the first David Walliams book Scarlett discovered, and now she is hooked! We listened to the audio book on our way up to Manchester and the whole family was hooked!
AS it was Scarletts first David Walliams book and we had told her he was 'really funny' she was a bit upset at the beginning of the book where bad dad has an accident in Queenie, his banger racing Mini. Thankfully bad dad doesn't die but he does end up having to have his leg amputated. As the story continues Scarlett said she was interested to listen as she was desperate to find out what happened next! The story really take off and after meeting all the characters, Raj, whom both Scarlett and Eleanor LOVE! Fingers and thumbs and Mr Big were the baddies and at the beginning Frank's mum leaves her home and family to live with MR Big.
The story continues and you find out how Bad Dad tries to make a living to support him and Frank by joining forces with Mr Big (against his will!). Some parts of the story are HILARIOUS!!! The whole family were in stitches as David Walliams really managed to hit that 'childlike' sense of humour by talking about farting, gruesome things and generally things that make children hoot! There were also more subtle jokes aimed at the older children and adults especially relating to Raj's shop.
I think David Walliams is a great author who manages to get the right amount of humour but also runs some important 'real life' threads through his books like the story about Franks mum leaving at the beginning.
In Scarletts words - Can we read ALL of David Walliams books PLEEEASSEEE!!!!

Another absolutely hilarious book by David Walliams and as always, contains an amazing story line, funny characters, and Raj, a hilarious newsagent that features in nearly all of Davis Walliams' books. This book is about a little boy called Frank, and his father who was an amazing race car driver. One day, his father crashes the car and breaks his leg, meaning he can't race again. Because of this, Franks mum divorces his dad, and runs away with a crime boss called Mr Big. Franks dad finds it hard to make money, but eventually finds a way. But, this new job causes lots of trouble to Frank and his dad. An awesome book, perfect for people of any age.

I was given this book as a present and it's amazing! ]
It has proved to be the most emotional book out of all of David Walliams' books.
The main character who is called Frank watches his father lose a leg, his job and get divorced.
It is all about Frank and his father trying to live a normal life.
All the thrill starts when Frank befriends a group of robbers.

We loved this book. We read it together every night. It was very hard to stop at one chapter and on a few occasions we had an extra chapter or two!
Was very funny and as an adult reading group to my child it was a joy to read.

We are huge David Walliams fans and this is maybe the best book yet!

Every chapter finishes on a cliff hanger which makes it really difficult to put the book down. ‘Please, just one more chapter!’

Frank lives with his mum and dad and as per David Walliams books he has a hard life. Throughout the book there is action and adventure with car chases, goodies, baddies, laughter and tears. What more could you want at bedtime?!

Raj, the shopkeeper, who we have met before features again. There is a very modern twist on the wedding at the end of the story.

I found the book a little slow at first but it got so much better! Lots of twists and turns that keep the story interesting.

The book is easy to read and funny. I liked the illustrations.

My favourite character was Frank, he is really good at tricking people.

This has to be one of the laziest written books ever, incredibly disappointed as I had started to enjoy David Walliams books but this was just dire. The writing is rambling at times, barely realistic and a dumb plot full of un-imaginative characters....and don't get me started on the illustrations! I thought Tony Ross was one of the best illustrators of children's books, he has either lost his way or somebody is doing a really bad impersonation of him. One of the worst parts was the author throwing in a random lesbian couple, the romance building between them was awkward and left me cringing, better writing would have made those characters more effective.

Only highlight was Raj, great to see him back in this book.

Seriously don't bother with this, check out his other work instead, Gangster Granny is miles better.
