Absolutely fantastic book especially during International Women's week. The children really enjoyed listening to the stories of some amazing women from the past. The illustrations were absolutely fantastic and really brought the stories to life.

Beautifully illustrated book in a contemporary style that appeals to adults, young adults and children alike. Fascinating stories of great women and their breakthrough, challenges and achievements!
It really is an inspirational book for young girls, featuring a huge variety of women who have excelled in different fields. My daughter's favourite one is Dr James Barry - she said it was so cheeky of her to pretend a boy.
It's a brilliant book - good introduction to some very famous and unfortunately not so well known women.

Another great book in a fantastic series. This book, as in the ones before tells the stories of interesting and influential women in history. The illustrations are great and I love that each page has so many different facts about each woman. I have learnt about so many women I had never heard of before by reading these books. I just love this one and I especially liked the story of The Matchgirls.

Wow what an book we were very excited to receive this book.
We have read the book person at a time. Myself as an adult has learned so much I didn’t know and has very much enjoyed reading with my daughter.
The book layout is fun, bright with fantastic illustrations.
She loves the way the writing is in boxes and speak bubbles. She has taken on board each person and read most by herself with help. She has asked questions and highlighted information and bits she has liked or doesn’t quite understand. Today we have looked at dr James Barry and has conversations about why women couldn’t go to university, army or become a doctor.
From looking ahead in the book she is asking for the matchsticks girls.
A fantastic fabulous book that is thought provoking to us all and a great way to start conversations and opportunities for our very strong confident girls.

The third book in this fabulous series. The illustrations are beautiful, the stories are inspiring and even as an adult I feel like I learn a great deal about the difference women have made throughout history. It’s also shocking that some of their ideas and findings were stolen by men, who took all the credit. A must read for everyone - it’s inspiring for young girls but also highlights to boys that women have just as much to offer as their male counterparts. Love it and looking forward to sharing at school.

As the mother of three daughters I think this book is absolutely brilliant!! Many of the women featured in it I had never heard of before so I was genuinely interested in finding out about them while I read to my daughters. My 7 year old daughter enjoyed reading all of speech bubbles while the quirky layouts and illustrations kept my 3 year old entertained throughout (although I know she'll appreciate the content much more when she's older). The use of a wide variety of fonts, images, styles, arrows and shaped segments of text meant that my 7 year old daughter didn't want to put this book down. Each page is layed out completely differently and uses bitesize chunks of text to keep the reader interested. The content is completely fascinating (as suggested by the title!), featuring scientists, adventurers, a film maker, a suffragette, entrepreneurs and many others. Very inspiring and educational. It even contains a very handy glossary. Having read this book my elder daughter will certainly be wanting to read Kate Pankhursts other books.

Read this beautiful book as a bedtime story to my children.  Daughter (8) and Son (9).  We all loved the illustrations, and personally I was pleasantly surprised that the women featured were lesser known figures from history.  We really enjoyed learning about these inspirational women and what they achieved, despite the odds stacked against them.  Kids were enjoying it so much that when I tried to stop halfway through saying 'we'll read the rest tomorrow night' they both yelled 'NNNOOOOOOOO!!!  Keep reading mum!'  That says it all  ::)
It will now be donated to our school's library for lots of other children to enjoy as well!

I found this book really interesting. The illustrations are amazing. My favourite one was Dr James Barry! She was a doctor. But because women couldn’t be doctors she dressed herself up to be a man and nobody new she was a women until she died in 1865! This book has made me want to read more books like this. Very interesting.

Fascinating, educational and inspiring for both boys and girls! This factual book tells the stories of about 12 fascinating, and often forgotten, women.

I read this book to both my 6 year old daughter and 8 year old son and they both love it. I was delighted to see a whole host of women, most of whom I had never heard of, covered in this book. They are wonderful role models for young people, especially girls, and very inspiring.
We read about a few women per night over a few days and I'm pleased to say both children remember quite a bit about them (although they are struggling to retain most of the names but we will get there). We've only had it a week and I've already been asked to read it again and saw my 8 year old reading some of it on his own too which means he's definitely interested.

It's given us a lot of discussion points on how things have changed so much both for coloured people, disabled people and women in general. They were shocked by several of the facts - such as Dr James Barry having to pretend to be a man in order to have a career as a doctor and Katherine Johnson having more challenges just because she was black.
