This is an absolutely wonderful encyclopedia for older children. It is beautifully laid out with extremely engaging illustrations. The text is concise and informative without being dull or uninteresting. I have found myself dipping into it whenever my daughter puts it down, and have learned some things I didn't know before! I can see this book being a tremendous resource for my daughter over the coming years and one that we use on a regular basis.

This is an excellent educational book. It looks at all aspects of the human body and is incredibly detailed. However, it is not a 'heavy' academic book due to the amazing colour images which dominate every page. We would both recommend this encyclopedia. My son was particularly struck by the area entitled 'Body Science'. He was totally captivated by 'Future Bodies' and the notion of bionic bodies (Likened it to Luke's arm and General Grievous in Star Wars). It is a book (like a lot of our non fiction books) to dip in and out of, to return to when a question about the body is raised. I suspect it will be of use for a long time to come.

An absolutely fantastic book for anyone, young or old, who loves to learn about the human body. Both my daughter and I found this book extremely fascinating and easy to read. The whole book is bright and engaging with  lots of pictures and descriptions of how our body works, it includes everything you need to know. A great book which will be looked at and used for many years.

A really interesting factual book. The information is presented in a fun way but the facts are quite advanced at times. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to other people.

A spectacularly visual feast for the eyes and the mind! What an extraordinary book and probably the best book on the human body i have ever read.

Incredibly detailed, this book is highly engaging and highly informative. Far bigger and more in depth than i could have ever imagined, i started to make my way through the book using the handy (and easy) colour coded sections- which were fantastically useful.

The layout is simply superb and many of the pages are written in easy to manage bite size chunks- great for us eager learners to digest.

I love how incredibly intricate the images are and that they were not afraid to show us kids this much detail- i love hard, honest, straight forward facts and that is exactly what i got with this book.

I thought this book was one of the most comprehensive books i have had the pleasure to read, my personal highlights were probably the ones most parents would worry about their children reading- the reproductive system. Hey, we can't become Doctors and head off into the medical profession without knowing these things and i felt this book explained things to me responsibly, honestly and factually. Another personal favourite was bodies in space- if you like Tim Peake, this section is for you!

My daughter is very interested in her body and bodily functions and this book help us answer all her questions. It shows the different layers of the body and what muscles do. It's great the publisher doesn't  ignore the genitalia/reproductive system - what often happens in other books.  Each chapter shows a different subject, e.g. Legs & feet, neck & head and the senses. Its a great 'down time' book & you need to sit with your child and explore it page by page. The illustrations are magnificent !! Each part of the body is warmly described in accurate details. It's defenitely one of my daughter's favourite books.

This appears to be a very comprehensive book broken down into numerous chunks,  e.g the skeletal system,  endocrine system, lymphatic system, reproductive system, heart, lungs,  intestines etc. It's definitely a book to flick through or research your specific query rather than read from cover to cover. Is recommended for ages 9 and up, which I would say was about right but please note that although I haven't seen any specific mention of the birds and the bees  (vague in case any younger children reading this review but I'm referring to the s word ),  there is quite comprehensive information as to the reproductive system and how the foetus develops so if you aren't ready for your child to explore that yet you might want to bear that in mind as the information in the book is bound to spark questions.
