Another fantastic Usborne book with easy to navigate pages, flaps to lift and interesting facts. This is the perfect book for young children who are learning the importance of good hygiene habits. I will be putting this book in my classroom and sharing it with the children to encourage more hand washing and self care.

This is the latest in this series (we also love "What is Poo?"!) from Usborne, and it's another winner for us.
It's a hardbacked book with pretty strong pages and flaps.
It's informative without information-overload!
Jess is currently very into playing doctors, and putting plasters on cuts, so this is a great way to reinforce the need for good hygiene.

A simple fact books about germs and what they do. It doesn't go into to much detail and is a friendly books that wouldn't scare a child into cleaning everything all the time! My daughter loves flap books and is so interested in any factual books that this was a great success. I particularly liked how it covered where medicines come from and how they help us to be well. Lovely illustrations and not to complicated.

What a brilliant book.
Over the last two weeks we have been talking lots about germs within our nursery. This book has lead to such brilliant discussions. The children loved taking it in turns to turn the pages and lift the various flaps. We have read this book three times this morning and the children have been talking about all the ways we can stop germs from spreading.
I like how the book introduces lots of different concepts such as how germs are caught, spread and got rid of.
This book will definitely be making lots more appearances over the next few months. The children are even more aware of how important it is to wash their hands now.

This is a fantastic book to teach children about germs and what they can do to protect themselves. The lift the flap style helps to keep the attention of young children and the illustrations show clearly the idea they are trying to portray.

This is a brilliant informative fun book to teach your little ones more about medicines, illnesses and germs. There was lots of facts about different types of germs and bugs and where they come from and how you get rid of them which is very useful to learn and teach my nearly 5 year old. She has always been very germ aware but this is really useful and prompting. even I learnt some new facts!. The lift the flaps make it extra fun and the illustrations are great too.

Usborne lift the flap books are always fabulous, the cover design looked very interesting and intriguing for my 4 year old daughter. She loved learning all about our ‘good’ white Blood cells that gobble up the nasty germs!!. She also loved learning about where germs live.
It has been read and looked at so many times already especially because they have been talking about your body and germs at school so this arrived at the perfect time.
Would definately recommend this book to any reception age children who love looking into things like germs and bugs !!

My daughter loved this book because she had just been learning about keeping healthy and how to make sure you don’t spread germs to your friends and family. Perfect timing !! My daughter keeps looking and reading this book to refresh her memory and help her find out some more useful information, I can see this book being useful for many more years to come.

We love lift the flap books and are big Usborne fans. The illustrations are really nice and the flaps are very nice displayed keeping my son's attention all the way through the book. I liked how it show various types of germs: bacteria, virus and so on and with the example of chickenpox that my son already had and can relate to. My son's favourite page was the one showing the ways of getting the germs and how to avoid them. I liked the one where they show how to "fight" germs and how the body protects itself from them coming into the body. But the truth is my son didn't really get it, it's quite a difficult thing to try to explain really, that the germs are these "things" that go into our body and then we get sick, and I was hoping the book would make him understand it better, but unfortunately I don't think it made a difference in terms of that... It is a book he enjoyed reading and lifting the flaps, but we'll have to come back to it again at a later moment and then I think he might understand more of it.

Update: my son is now 4.5 years old and we've read this book again and now he seems to understand much more of it and we read it as a preparation for his vaccines he had to take and this worked so well! He didn't even cry and then afterwards we read the book again and he said in the vaccines part: I like this vaccine thing! This all because now he thinks he's super strong and that he can fight against bad things! And he's like the superheroes shown in the book. So I had thought this book was 4 stars but it's a 5 stars one, it just depends on the timing and when your kid is ready for it and I would say, give the vaccine when they're more ready to understand it, it was magical!

My Son loved this book! He is currently potty training so this book and the other book in the series what is poo are read every day! It has taught him to remember that washing hands is fun as he loves the flaps and all the interesting facts about germs. He know uses a magnifying glass to try and find them on his hands! :)
The book is very sturdy with thick cardboard pages and he can turn the pages and lift the flaps independeny. It is already a firm favourite.

This is a brilliant book pitched brilliantly for my three year old.

From informing little ones about the difference between viruses and infections, to explaining the importance of hygiene and hand washing, this is a super informative read.

My daughter has just started nursery so this is a great reminder of how the spread of germs can he avoided. It is written in an appropriate, child friendly way and with the addition of lift the flaps it makes the read all that more exciting and appealing.

The illustrations are brilliant and the various colours will keep little ones engaged.

We were delighted to receive this book and my daughter, who has always had fun playing doctors with her doctors kit, found this fun and informative.

Lovely book - and perfect for my school age children  - a real tangible way to show them how easy germs are spread, and how to prevent it. They loved the illustrations and the added surprise of lifting the flap to find the answers. Big print writing and colourful pictures make this a book suitable for almost any age.
