Roald Dahl's much-loved Matilda, now in a stunning large paperback format with Quentin Blake's original illustrations in full colour.

Matilda Wormwood's father thinks she's a little scab. Matilda's mother spends all afternoon playing bingo. And Matilda's headmistress Miss Trunchbull? Well, she's the worst of all. She is a big bully, who thinks all her pupils are rotten and locks them in the dreaded Chokey. As for Matilda, she's an extraordinary little girl with a magical mind - and now she's had enough. So all these grown-ups had better watch out, because Matilda is going to teach them a lesson they'll never forget.

Matilda is also a phenomenally successful, award-winning London stage musical, adapted for the stage by Dennis Kelly with music by Tim Minchin.

'A true genius . . . Roald Dahl is my hero' - David Walliams

Listen to MATILDA and other Roald Dahl audiobooks read by some very famous voices, including Kate Winslet, David Walliams and Steven Fry - plus there are added squelchy soundeffects from Pinewood Studios!

Look out for new Roald Dahl apps in the App store and Google Play- including the disgusting TWIT OR MISS! inspired by the revolting Twits.

We read this with our 7 year old he loves it and loves the characters especially when Matilda gets her powers.  He likes the headmistress who is awful to the children but Matilda gets her own back.  Lovely book and really nicely written

This was the last of the Roald Dahl set of books I read with my 6 and 8 year olds.  Initially, the size of the book put them off but as soon as we started, we were hooked!   All three of us looked forward to each instalment of the story.   Mrs Trunchball is a great character, the children were shocked at just how horrid she was.   Mrs Honey was wonderful and kind which led to lots of discussions about school etc.   A brilliant, captivating story.

Perfect book for young and old! As a child I loved Matilda - the plucky young girl who could achieve anything she put her mind to. When I re-read this as an adult I could appreciate the sub-text regarding child cruelty, consumerism and the role of adults in a child's life. Perfect story telling from Roald Dahl.

Matilda Is an interesting book because it shows a life very different to a normal 6 year old.
I love that Matilda likes to read... I do too. I didn't like it when she had no fitness to start with but then she got lots .
I love miss honey because she is such a sweet kind teacher even though she had  an awful childhood herself.
Mrs trunchball makes me angry. She is horrible to everyone. I'm glad that she ends up being taken down in the end
My favourite bit is when Matilda makes friends with lavender and amanda.
