Imagine what would happen if you had a magic finger that could cast spells whenever you got angry and pointed at someone?! One eight year old girl knows... She finds out about her skills one day when a teacher is rude to her, and she subsequently curbs her powers as much as she can. Until, that is, her neighbours continue to hunt birds, something that she finds very upsetting.
The story is brilliantly written, with humour and morality wrapped up together with the passion and belief of an eight year old. A good story with an imaginative come uppence for people who are not nice. As ever, Ronald Dahl has written a story that speaks clearly to children. My son loved this story.
