We borrowed this from the library last week and have read it several times already. It's a great first chapter book with easy text and funny stories. Claude and his friend Mr Bobblysocks go for an adventure in the city and see all kinds of wonderful things, and manage to catch a thief! Then they go to hospital and Claude inadvertently ends up treating people when he is mistaken for a doctor. The illustrations are lovely, lots of fun.I enjoyed reading it as a parent, and my son finds it easy enough to read himself.

Loved this book. So refreshingly odd, funny, creative, and a wee bit subversive. There will surely be adults who take issue with one or two bits of the book (like the ladies undergarment floating out of a taxi cab window), but there is much to love about this book.

My favorite part: that Claude the dog has a best friend named Sir Bobblysock...who is, indeed, a sock.

Scarlett read this book herself so I'm dictating this review!

In this story Claude goes to the city! Claude has never been to the city before, so he decided to go to the art gallery. He saw a room full of sculptures (some were even of bums! this tickled Scarlett!), and the next room was full of pictures, pictures of dogs and people!
Then, Claude stopped for a refreshent and bumped into a theif stealing pictures!
Claude got dressed up in a doctors suit so everyone throught Claude was a doctos, Scarlett liked this and thought Claude was very clever! Scarlett struggled to pick a favourite character as she said she liked them all! Scarlett also liked the illustrations in this particular book.

Another Claude book completed and added to the list! Highly reccomended.

A very enjoyable and silly book about a dog who's best friend is a sock...This book had my daughter laughing as the funny dog gets up to all sorts in the city, but his owners never seem to find out. A good book to move on from picture books as it still have lots of picture in and isnt too long.

What a fantastic book! This is a great book for introducing slightly older children to longer, chapter books. The illustrations are superb and I loved the expressions on the faces of the characters and bystanders in the book. The text of the book (and the illustrations) allowed me to ask my son lots of questions about what he thought people were thinking and what he thought was going to happen next. The letter from the author on the inside cover of the book was a lovely touch and this made my son very excited about reading the book.

Claude is a bit of a character and his antics, and those of his sidekick Sir Bobblysock made us laugh. We are looking forward to finding and reading the rest of the Claude books!
