Received as a christening present, and brought it out now she's 3 and can be trusted to be gentle with the pop ups!
I think the pop-up really adds to the story... as you make the little caterpillar move along the leaf, see the food stand up (and touch it as you count), see him get bigger, and become a beautiful butterfly that moves as you flap the pages. Great book for counting, learning the days of the week, and the fascinating process of growing from an egg to a butterfly. We're reading this a lot at the moment as we are "growing our own" butterflies for release with an Insect Lore kit. I've booked to see the theatre adaption of this book (and 3 of his other works) thats touring the UK Nov-16 to Jan-17.

This is an amazing pop up book and makes the story even more interesting. Love following the caterpillar cycle and the children join in within reading the book a couple of times. We followed it through by ordering our own caterpillars and watching them grow. A classic
Story book every child should have.

Oh my goodness I wish this had been around when I was young! The fact that it's moving and tactile means the little ones are entertained by the pop up while the older ones are entertained by the much loved story.
Only reason I'm not giving it five stars is I wish it were bigger so I could use it for my library group.
