Meg and Mog Series

Young readers have loved following Meg and Mog’s amusing adventures for over 40 years. Meg the witch, along with Mog her long-suffering cat and their friend Owl, feature in 18 books written by author Helen Nicoll and award-winning illustrator Jan Pienkowski. Meg and Mog have also graced the small screen on Tinypop, in a series featuring the voices of Alan Bennett as Owl, Fay Ripley as Meg and Phil Cornwell as Mog, and even the stage.

First published in the 1970s, the classic stories follow Meg as her many magic tricks go awry. Using simple text and bold, bright, eye-catching illustrations, these board books are perfect for toddlers who love exploring shapes, sounds and colours. The books are also just the right length for early readers. The phonetic character names and wonderful illustrations will help children just starting to identify words to follow the story easily. Many parents will remember Meg and Mog from their childhoods and enjoy rediscovering the duo’s crazy antics along with their kids – the books are as funny today as they were when they were first written.

Meg and Mog find adventures wherever they go, thanks to Meg’s unpredictable spells. From everyday activities like making dinner and going to school, to travelling back in time meeting Ancient Egyptians or cavemen and even going to the moon, life is never dull for Meg, Mog and Owl. We recommend starting with the original classic Meg and Mog where Meg and her cat go to a wild Halloween party, with unexpected results.
