A car is all very well if you know how to drive it, but if you're Meg or Mog, in a hurry to go on a picnic, you really are safer on a broomstick. Children will love exploring the colours, sounds and shapes in the magical Meg and Mog stories, which are perfect for sharing or reading alone.

My toddlers and I are big fans of the Meg and Mog series and this story doesn't disappoint.

In the book, Meg, Mog and Owl fancy making the most of the lovely day by going by car to have a picnic. Meg decides to cast a spell to create a car and thanks to the very different ideas of the three, they end up with a very strange hybrid! They cause a ruckus driving through the country and have an ill-fated addition to the petrol tank which leads to disaster. The cheeky tale ends with them flying home by broomstick, sans car.

This is a brilliantly cheeky and funny story; not least from the content of the story but also thanks to the vast amount of excellent sound effects which my children love to join in with (at the top of their voices). It's a great jumping off point for creating your own cars together too.

The illustrations are great: they are bright, bold and inescapably eye-catching. I really like that the sound effects are part of the drawings - though I can't really say why!

I highly recommend reading this; it's one of our favourites.

My almost 4 year old twins received a collection of Meg and Mog books from Santa and they absolutely love them!

As with all the other Meg and Mog books, this story is beautifully, vividly illustrated. Meg, Mog and Owl all wish they had a car - three very different cars. Meg casts a spell to make them a car and it appears but it isn't quite what any of them wanted! It is an amalgamation of all three of their wishes! The surprise of this strange car appearing made my daughters laugh so much! Highly recommended.

We love this series of books and Leo was delighted when he found one featuring a car. He loved looking at the pictures, particularly the car that they conjured up. It's a classic simple story with lots of lots of clangs, bashes and crashes that children can enjoy over and over.

Men and Mog are a brilliant series of books for smaller children.
Written in a comic book style with simple cartoon illustrations they are brilliant for any age.
The big pictures in bold colours capture my baby, whereas the text being simple, is great for my toddler to try reading to me!
