This book has lovely books illustrations. It has a simple, repetitive storyline of what each vehicle does in transforming some wasteland into an adventure playground. The illustrations are bright and bold and engaged my little one. A lovely read.

This picture book is a great favourite of my toddlers. It tells the story of how some vehicles transform a messy dump into an adventure playground.

It lends itself brillintly to introducing and developing vocabulary, thanks to the repetition of words in the text and the clear, simple illustrations to demonstrate the meaning of the words. The text itself is very simple so it can be quite a quick read.

The illustrations are gorgeous; they are bold and bright - my children love them! I really like that all of the vehicles have eyes, it makes them quite endearing. They are lovely to use to talk about colours too.

I liked the summary on the penultimate pages of what all the vehicles did prior to revealing what they managed to build; it was a nice way to reveal the climax that had been building as all the vehicles worked throughout the story.

Really good book for teaching new words as there is a lot of repetition eg: dig dig dig, lift lift lift. My son loves it and its a nice easy read so my 4 1/2 yr old reads it to him. The story is a lovely one as shows what you can do with a bit of imagination from turning a tip into a playground. The illistartions are nice simple and bright.
