After loving the Secret Seven series this was our first go of the Famous Five. Harry was initially worried he wouldn't enjoy it as much but luckily he did! A great cast of child characters together with their wonderful dog explore Kirrin Island, determined to protect it. Full of fun, suspense and it'll make you want to carry on with the series. We loved it.

I really like this book. It makes me want to go on holiday and explore old ruins. It's a really good adventure story and I like the characters. My favourite is George because she is bold and brave and I like her dog Timmy, he's funny. I think girls would like this story most but boys might like it too.

It was so nice to read this book to my eight year old boys, although it took them a while to stop giggling over the names and get used to the more traditional way of writing they absolutely loved it!  As the siblings Julian, Dick and Anne get to meet their cousin George and her dog; Timmy they really do have the most wonderful adventure on Kirrin Island and the shipwreck.  Their summer sounds perfectly idyllic and makes you long to be a child again and spend days exploring and being outside whatever the weather.   The really adventure doesn't start until halfway through the book and it certainly helps to build the anticipation.  I highly recommend this book for boys and girls who enjoy a well written book, without modern slang and a daring adventure.

I loved the famous five books as a child so was very excited to read them with my daughter! I was worried that she may have found them boring but not at all! She loves them just as much as I did. This book is a particular favourite. Exciting plot with lots of twists!

I really liked this book because sometimes  there was a bit of tension but they always were alright after a while. Dick,Anne,George and Julian are really adventurous and they sound a lot like me and my friends and I can't wait to read more of their adventures.

It was really good, I really liked the secret seven books before so I thought I would like this one as well. It's fairly different from the secret seven ones, I thought they would be similar, there was adventure at every turn and a good ending. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes you read a book and wonder how didn't you get to read this one in your childhood while everyone about your age did.

Five on a Treasure Island, you are certainly the first one I read after a considerably long time, but your next parts sure are not going to be.

Here I come.
