Ada Twist is full of questions. A scientist to her very core, Ada asks why again and again. One question always leads to another until she's off on a journey of discovery!

When Rosie Revere's Uncle Ned gets a little carried away wearing his famous helium pantaloons, it's up to Ada and friends to chase him down. As Uncle Ned floats farther and farther away, Ada starts asking lots of questions: How high can a balloon float? Is it possible for Uncle Ned to float into outer space? And what's the best plan for getting him down?

In this new chapter-book adventure, Ada must rely on her curious mind, her brave spirit, and her best pals Rosie Revere and Iggy Peck to solve a mystery in her own backyard.

I read it to Rubiroo aged 6 aged 6

Ruby did read some of this book herself she says she liked it because it’s like a grown up book. There are less pictures in it.
It’s about a girl Ada who always asks questions and looks at mystery’s.
I like her Ruby’s says because she likes read and a bit of a detective.
She liked especially reading about the author and illustrator.
Andrea is the author and she loves cheese she read all about them all and has asked for more book like this one.
It was a great book for an early reader, lovely hardback book gave the feel of older reading book and the illustrations were fab.

My daughter read this book to herself and really enjoyed it as she liked the question and answer format and learned a lot from the book. She keeps telling me little snippets of information that she has picked up. She really enjoyed the unusual format of the book and happily dips in and out of it.

Another great book in the Questioneers chapter book series. This is a well-paced story focused on Ada Twist, scientist. Ada adores science and loves to ask questions about everything. Sometimes her thoughts go too fast and it's hard to explain what she's thinking. She also gets into trouble for borrowing her brother Arthur's things. Ada's friend Rosie Revere Engineer has invented some helium inflated pantaloons for her Uncle Ned, but he's flown away and got stuck in an air current. Ada and her friends work to rescue him, explaining along the way how he has got stuck and how they can get him down. At the end of the book is extra information about science, which makes for great talking points. We love the illustrations and we love this series.

This is an entertaining book focusing on Ada Twist, Scientist and her friends. We haven't read any of their other books, so I was looking forward to giving one a chance. Ada is constantly asking questions and conducting experiments, much to her brother's dismay. She must use her skills to help Rosie Revere's Uncle Ned from being carried away by his helium filled pantaloons. Ada is an identifiable character, who doesn't always have the answer. But she keeps asking questions and trying, even when her explanations can't keep up with her thoughts. I thought this book wove scientific concepts into the story really well. My daughter struggled a bit with some of these concepts, but I think it's something we can come back to at a later time. The illustrations, some of which were designed to look like Ada's notes, were humorous and added to the story. I think this is a great early chapter book and introduction to the idea of being a scientist.

I read it myself (an adult)
Ada Twist and the Perilous Pantaloons 9781419739019

As we won this to give our son's primary school and he is a little old for the book (age 11) I thought I would read it myself. When my children were younger we read the picture book Ada Twist along with Rosie Reveer Engineer and loved them.  I am sure had these short chapter books been around a few years on from that we would have enjoyed them as much.

I wont go into the plot as other reviewers have already done that well but I loved about the book was the character herself. She is very curious, always asking questions, not always getting the answers and reminded me a lot of my own daughter around that age (8 or so)  She is totally believable as are her family and I loved the way story was interwoven with science and pictures.

A really lovely book which I am sure any primary school would love to have in their library. I am looking forward to giving this to the school in a few weeks
