What a fantastic book! I can not recommend it enough! It’s a clever alphabet book, flaps to open for every letter and outstanding, colourful illustrations. Best of all it opens out completely into a huge cortina that stretches right across the room! My 3yo absolutely loves it!!

My daughter and I loved the pop ups in the book, there’s a surprise behind each window. The characters are all animals which is a brilliant feature. The book has lovely rhymes and teaches children the alphabet. We both loved reading this together and my daughter was beaming with excitement. I would highly recommend this book.

What a delightful book! All three of my children, aged 3, 6 and 7 loved this book. All of my children loved opening up the flaps and the book pulls out to make one very long picture which fascinated them. The little rhymes with each letter of the alphabet were easy enough for my older two to read and short enough to keep my little one interested. The book is a great size, the colours are vibrant and the illustrations are wonderful. This book would make the perfect gift for children of all ages. Highly recommended.

This is a great book my daughter absolutely loved the lift the flap and at the end the concertina pages that open out to reveal the street and the characters that hid behind the flaps.

She loves recognising the animals and listening to me read the story. The book is fairly compact despite opening up to a rather large book, it fastens shut with a popper which stops the book from opening out consistently.

The illustrations are brightly coloured and has fast become one of her favourites!

We loved this book - thank you!  My son is just learning his letters and this incorporates both the big and little letters under each flap.  He loves seeing which letters are behind each flap, and is even using the book as the backdrop to his train set!

I read it myself (an adult)
Alphabet Street 9781788002165
4 stars
This book is fantastic to help children learn the alphabet and words associated with the individual letters, especially because the featured letter is in bold enabling them to refer back to. The flaps engage the children further, through interactive learning and encourage them to guess and search beyond the possible answers! Many of the scenes are amusing to the children and the rhyming helps capture the fun of learning.
Within the classroom environment this book looks amazing pulled out in the street design with all the colours and illustrations on display. The individual details keep the children entertained as they spot different features each time they read.
The only disadvantage of this book is that many of the flaps have to be read to the children, because they do not feature phonetic words or sentences aimed at their age stage. This prevents them from phonetically decoding the words and blending the sounds together. In a few cases the words have to be explained to the children in further depth, as they have never come across them before.
However, the more children are exposed to this engaging book the greater their skills of remembering each sentence and talking along with the possible endings. If introducing the alphabet to children or developing their knowledge further Alphabet Street is a fantastic addition to any classroom!
