A classic picture book from Eric Carle - The Very Busy Spider.

Early one morning a little spider begins to spin her web on a fencepost and she doesn't stop until it is finished . . .

Alongside the visual excitement of Eric Carle's vibrant collages of familiar animals is the tactile experience of feeling the spider's web as it grows from a simple line into a complex and beautiful creation -a perfect story for reading aloud and sharing.

Eric Carle is an internationally bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator of books for very young children. Eric lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Barbara. The Carles opened The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Massachusetts in 2002.

A spider wakes one morning, and begins making a web.  As the day goes by, a number of farmyard animals ask her if she would like to do something else but the spider stays focussed on her web building.
The version of the book that I have has a clock with movable hands, and it has been a great way to teach my son about how to tell the time. The book also has a number of animals in it , which means as the reader you have the opportunity to show off all your animal noises! This is a great book as it has simple text, a lovely plotline and colourful pictures.

This is a great book and one of my daughter's favourites. She loves the bumpy feel of the spider and it's web and makes all the animal noises as we turn the pages. Lots of farm animals to talk about and make the noises of, she really enjoys it.

Read this in the board book format and it really engaged both children. Tells the story of a spider who is blown in on the wind to land on a farm gate. She begins to spin her web and meets lots of farm animals along the way. The repetitive line ("the spider didn't answer, she was too busy spinning her web") kept my youngest engaged and the unique style of Eric Carle's illustrations coupled with the 'touchy feely' element (from the board book) meant it was enjoyed by both kids. Recommended for about 2plus id say. My kids are 18m and 5
