All the animals are busy lending a hand in the garden in this lively numbers book! The parrots are pulling up carrots, the bears are picking pears and a swarm of bees are pruning the trees with their miniature shears. Julia Donaldson's whimsical rhymes and Nick Sharratt's hilarious illustrations make One Mole Digging a Hole a delight to read out loud. With plenty to giggle at on every page, counting - or gardening - has never been so much fun!

We love Julia Donaldson and Nick Sharratt so had no problem picking up this book. It is so colourful and great fun. The book starts with 'one mole digging a hole' then continues with 'two snakes with garden rakes'. The illustrations by Sharratt are fantastic and made us all laugh (we especially liked the doves with gloves). The story itself also has a lot to offer. There is counting practise which is perfect for little ones as well as lots of rhyming text which is fun to read and easy to remember. We really enjoyed the book and have read it again and again.

A big bright bold and colourful counting book from 1 - 10. There's lots to see on each page, the different numbers have animals doing funny things and it's really clear for little ones to learn their numbers. My child has loved this since she was 3 and still loves it now at 5.

A counting from 1 to 10 book with a gardening theme - so very popular with Sophie as she has begun to help us with watering / picking vegetables in the garden this summer. The left page of each double spread shows a big bold number, surrounded by the corresponding number of butterflies, while the rhyming text corresponds to the bright cheerful illustration on the right page.... where you can practice 1-to-1 correspondence counting the creatures. It's also a nice way to highlight rhyming to a slightly older child (our daughter is 3) eg Six parrots, pulling up carrots... two snakes with garden rakes....Three bears picking pears. Lovely book.

An absolutely delightful book full of large, bright and engaging pictures. We have had this book since my son was new born and he still adores it (he has just turned 2). My son was number literate from around 18 months and I believe this book has been paramount in helping him with this. A huge 10/10 from us.

The best book about numbers ever! The illustrations are so detailed that you spot something new each time. My sons love counting with me, and likes seeing the different animals doing daft things. Nick Sharratt is one of my favourite illustrators.

This is far and away our favourite numbers/counting book. Both my husband and I love reading it with our daughter and she loves it - often talking about moles when we're out and about.  It's a busy book with lots of funny lines/illustrations e.g. a swarm of bees pruning trees.  I like that it doesn't shy away from more grown up words (like pruning).  It's also definitely helped to develop my daughter's interest in counting.
