My son (age almost 7) and I are really enjoying the story (a few more chapters to go) and the CD. They are wonderful songs making a lovely change from the usual Christmas CD! Both my son and daughter (nearly 5) love them. Very catchy, I keep finding myself singing them. (There is also a stage show around Christmas which my son is now keen to see too).
My son has loved the book and the magical world it is set within. He loves all the information about Father Christmas and is now convinced that stocking presents are dug up by elves. We haven't quite made it to the end yet (it's quite long) but I can see it'll be a hit to the end, one we will no doubt be re-reading next year (if not during the warmer months!)

Here's what my son says:
Really good book. It's about a boy called William Trundle and a dinosaur called the Christmasaurus. William is in a wheelchair and loves Christmas and dinosaurs so when he sets off on an adventure involving flying to the North Pole with a dinosaur he is very happy!

It's going to be trial and error finding a long story book for my two year old. We sit through a dozen books each night time so I wanted something a bit chunkier to get through. This would be ideal for a school child with a silly cd about being cold and boogies. She did enjoy marching around to the music with her maracas. The story itself is a bit old for her comprehension and mature for her. It's about a boy who is disabled after a car crash who's parents have died and all he wants for Christmas is a dinosaur. He also goes through bullying. Alot of important messages and a wonderful imagination tale. I'll be passing this onto a friend with an older child who I'm sure will love this.

FANTASTIC!
My 7 year old son has absolutely loved reading this. It has taken us a little while to get through but we have honestly enjoyed every chapter. It is fantastically well written and captures our imaginations from the very beginning. The Cd is a lovely addition and we have enjoyed listening to ththe catchy songs in the Car. We can’t recommend this book highly enough - truly wonderful!

I was wondering when we were going to receive this book, so had a look to see if anyone else had received their copy. I was very perplexed to read one of the reviews and the poster going on about 'crumpets'. Then we received this rather large parcel with the book and two large Warburtons crumpets inside. They were delicious. Thank you. Great surprise. I read 'Crumpet Eve', the short story at the end of the book first. We weren't too sure about it. Very much an advertisement for crumpets.

The music cd went down really well. Excellent for the Christmas period. (Exception for me was 'Christmas makes me sick') My son did listen to the cd and read the book separately though. Difficult to do otherwise.

He has raced through the first few chapters. He felt sorry for William went he was being bullied by Brenda. Overall, he said it was a good book and he was enjoying it. He rather liked the look of the 'Christmasaurus' and wished it was real.

This book is fantastic I borrowed this off a friend and read it last year and now with the added music cd with this makes it even better. I read the book in chapters with the cd and its great. I love the fact that the cd you can use on its own and not just with the book. My 5 year old sister loved me reading this to her too. Will definitely recommend this fun Christmas book to everyone.

An absolute must for children aged 7+!! (My 5 year old loves it too, but can't read this level yet)
If you're going to buy The Christmasaurus, buy the CD version because the songs are incredible, we haven't taken it out of the cd player since it arrived, and sing along every day, even after Christmas.

The story is about a boy called William, who is wheelchair bound after a car accident that also killed his mother.  William loves dinosaurs and wishes for one for Christmas.  Santa doesn't disappoint, and William is shocked when a real dinosaur appears at his house on Christmas morning.

The characters are great and you really do learn a lot about them.

The story is sweet, and sad in parts (William gets bullied), but amusing throughout and entertaining.

This is a fantastic book with some wonderful black and white illustrations and a gorgeous red cover with a brilliant blue outer sleeve. It has a very imaginative story about a boy called William Trundle and a dinosaur (the Christmasaurus). The book starts off by introducing you to the end of the dinosaurs and then the story begins with William and his dad. William's dad loves Christmas and takes great delight in telling William what elves really do at the North Pole. We loved the idea of magic beans and digging presents out of the ice. The CD soundtrack that accompanies the book is amazing. It was great to hear the fun songs performed as they really helped build up the world of the Christmasaurus in our imagination. There is so much to say about this book but it needs to be read to be fully understood and enjoyed. We would highly recommend you read this story and if you can - pick up the musical edition. It's brilliant! We also have a new found love of crumpets after reading The Christmasaurus thanks to the many references and the added short story at the end of the book.

I loved this story last year so when the musical version come out I brought it with my pocket money.

Its a bit annoying that I had to buy the book not just the music but I love it.

My book has an extra short story about crumpets and all the words to the songs in the back.  When you read the story it tells you when to listen to each song, but we just keep listening to the cd. We will reread this story every Christmas because it's epic.

We read this book originally last year when it came out and are now re-reading it. The musical cd is really good and adds to the chapters (as well as being a good standard alone cd) with 14 songs of different musical styles.
A lovely magical story about feeling different, lone parent families, disability and coming togetherness.
A new Christmas classic in our house is think.

a beautiful story with wonderful characters, William was our favourite although we loved his dad too. The illustrations really add to the story- they are wonderful. The fact the main character uses a wheelchair was refreshing. The musical aspect of this book was a great added extra. Playing the songs to go with the story made it feel really special and also very festive. Addie loved how the song lyrics were in the book too and I can imagine it's not the last time I'm going to hear her singing along to Afraid of Heights. This book would make a great gift.

I thought this was a great book, especially with the accompanying CD, but I think my daughter (age 7) found the length of it a bit daunting and tricky to get into so she lost interest after a few chapters. I've still given it 5 stars because I think if she were slightly older this would have been perfect and I think we'll read it again in a couple of months, maybe approaching Christmas, when I suspect that being a bit older she'll appreciate it all the more.

It would be great if the musical edition had some way to download an mp3, we don't have a CD player in the car and it would be perfect for listening to there. Either way the hardback edition with the music would make a lovely gift for an 8 or 9 year old.
