Nzumah is a mischievous African prince whose antics often land him in trouble. His life in the idyllic village of Bantu is guided by his family and the community at large. Storytelling and proverbial language is the medium by which adults communicate wisdom to the young. In The Proud Peacock, Tijani, a local farmer, tells Nzumah a story about a proud peacock whose pride and arrogance lead him to a shameful end. The moral of the story is, pride always comes before a fall; be careful how you treat others because you might one day need their help.
