Nzumah is a mischievous African prince whose antics often land him in trouble. His life in the idyllic village of Bantu is guided by his family and the community at large. Storytelling and proverbial language is the medium by which adults communicate wisdom to the young. In The Ugly Chick, Mansa Kusa (the King) tells his son Nzumah a story about a sad rejected chicken who discovers his true potential, to everyone's amazement. The moral of the story is, do not judge a book by its cover; be careful how you treat others because no one knows the future.
